Is there any upgrades, replacement or swaps you can do to our locks which can seem to be opened with a penny or clothespin?
First I had my 1987 red pickup broken into while grocery shopping and now the cruiser while on government/military property under military police surveillance
Is it really so bad as to ask or better locks
I'm tired of being absolutely robbed of my music Amongst other belongings

Third times the charm, I'll catch em in the act, 37's look a lot bigger from the ground I'll tell you that much

Damn. Sorry to hear. Get an alarm or at the least a flashing LED light to keep the easy pickin thieves out.
Toyota locks have always sucked.

If you replace them it will be a lot better. Most of the time they are just worn out, that's why it's always the drivers door that opens first. I've bought lock kits from lordco a couple times. Seemed to be decent. Means you gotta have 2 keys though.

Replaced them in my sisters truck... After it was stolen... Twice

That sucks man, what a drag. I've been there a few times. Had one car stolen twice when I lived in Esquimalt. I've been using a club for 10 years now and had no more problems (even though they are easy to defeat). Seems to turn people off.

I know guys with Toyota sports cars of the same vintage as our cruisers used to use Solex door locks. Not sure if they are suitable to cruisers or not...

This is a paradox. We have 5 Toyotas at my house. I went around one day to test this theory of bad Toyota
locks. No way any key from any of the others worked in any one other car. I locked my keys in my 60 in Calgary, took
us 45 min to slim jim the door. According to the AAA guy, these Toyotas are one of the most difficult for them to break in to.
I had my truck robbed in Vancouver, but I just figured I hadn't closed the door properly.
I do know, if they aren't secured on the latch, you can push the door in, and pop the door lock.
Rule 1 - Don't leave anything visible at all.
Sorry to hear about your truck. Especially in a secure area, secure for who??

Ya I was not impressed, thanks for the ideas guys, I'll be looking into

I know for a fact though my friends fj45 key starts mine which is worse
It's quite possible my locks have seen better days though
