No idea on the top speed, I have never had it running.

My guess would be that it could cruise all day at 60 and maybe top out at 80ish.

You're right, semiln!

Whose trackday was that and where? Looks like all Ducs. I have done NESBA, SBTT and some others that rented the tracks for one or two-off events. The Ducshop in Atlanta does one every August at Road Atlanta, but it open to all brands and run inconjunction with a SBTT. Nice and humid too!

These were taken at Barber.

My dealer here sells Ducati and Triumph. A few times a year they rent out the track for their customers. Its a great time, with just about 20 or so riders. Its really nice to not have to fight traffic on the track!
Would like to take it out on a big track, that would be a blast!!

Are you talking about the t looking thing on my exhaust? That is the logo for the maker of my exhaust. Its made by Termignoni. Their logo reminds me of the Rolling Stones one from the '70's.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nürburgring

"...While it is unusual for deaths to occur during sanctioned races, there are several fatalities and many accidents each year during public sessions. It is not unusual for the track to be closed several times a day for cleanup, repair, and medical intervention. The track management does not publish any official figures, but regular visitors to the track have used police reports to estimate the number of fatalities at somewhere between 3-12 in a full year.[5]..."

Althought the experience would be unforgettable, I think I'll pass on the Old 'Ring. From Deaths in motorsports: - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Nurbugring is second only to Indy as the track with the most fatalities. Consider also the fact that the majority of fatalities on the Ring happen not to racer during an organized competition but the general public who are allowed to use it for a fee. How many John Does' are allowed to wring it out on whatever at Indianapolis?

Agree. It's just too congested and you've got too many people that think they're a driving god. Put them in close proximity, then add the protection a bike gives you, high speed, and that makes for a bad formula.

there is a vid on YouTube that shows a driver and the road was full of joy riders on bikes (Not going with the flow) and even showed him passing a tour bus and IIRC, I even saw a Defender 110 on it.

I think they have novice days and pro days. Or that might just be times, I'm not sure.

The Nurburgring is designated a public road IIRC. Any road legal vehicle can get on it with a pass.

Not on a bike, and not with a crowd. And no, I've never been on the ring :D but I'm there is spirit everyday. (and on YouTube watching it)

To clarify, I would enjoy it without any traffic on it. I certainly dont want to be fighting high speed traffic on a motorcycle, thats insane! The 'ring is one of those places I want to see before I die. The list also includes the Monaco Grand Prix.

MR. G,

What's the story/history behind these? They look like 1900's-era behive ceramic kilns used to fire clay pots/bricks/clay pipe.

The wife and I were touring Colorado summer 2007 and came upon an old mining town (don't remember the name) that is now all "Artsy Crafty". The charcoal kilns were across the highway from the road into the town.

My best recollection is that it was on Hwy 149 somewhere between Lake City and Gunnison, but I could be mistaken.

We have found charcoal kilns all over the USA West. If I remember the placards my wife makes me read correctly :crybaby:, they were used to turn wood into charcoal to use for fuel in the smelting furnaces at the mines. They date from the mid 1800's onwards.

Some of the best known charcoal kilns probably being at Wildrose in Death Valley. Nice mild 4x4 trail from the kilns to mahogany Flat. Great views from the Flat.
