What's G-Turbo been up to?

I hadn't heard much about G-turbo lately, so I got bored and went looking. Turns out they're cranking the 4.5 V8's up to truly silly numbers.

Here's a video of a "previously tuned by someone else" 200 series getting the Warrior spec upgrade. It's really impressive what these stock (but reprogrammed) drivelines are handling.



I don't want to spoil the final surprise, but the before numbers were 270hp and 656Nm at the wheels.

Graeme makes the point that crank numbers are exceeding those from the stock US pickups!

Don’t forget. Everyone seems to zero in on the 200 twin turbo. That motor isn’t exactly mainstream even in the 76/78/79 world. Those are cool numbers but better be ready to spend $15K +. I’m researching how to map the ECU on a VD1 from a different continent. Aussies aren’t all that ‘hobby’ oriented. It’s money or nothing.

Australia has a lot of "CUB"s, Cashed Up Boguns. Thanks @Hulsty for the reference. Young guys who work in the mining industry and have a lot of money for toys. They have a lot of industries geared up to help relieve those guys of their problems. I find it interesting how their product lines are almost exclusively Toyota. A few years back they were advertising packages for a variety of makes and models. But now it's almost all hilux and landcruiser.

I'm really impressed how they've been able to put together a reliable package pushing that much power through a mostly stock engine and driveline while keeipng it clean. Kudos to Toyota and Graeme.

Maybe I should have said they more 'pay then play'. I've been emailing and trying to get helpful info on my new to me
VDJ motor. I was told by very close personal friend of one of the big names in performance ( lives in Aus, has family BBQ's together)
if he could just spend a bit of
time to help me work thru some questions so I could plan my build. He flat out said nope, if not spending money he had
no time to talk. Also they are really tied into their 'dealership' network. A component costing $3300 in Aus, after being told
to go to dealer in Canada, who on the phone said 'I'm giving you the best deal I can' quoted me $9600 Canadian.
Apples and oranges in these two examples, but just an indicator

Just go to a different brand of turbo and or supplier. UFI makes great turbos for example.

I have not had good customer service from GTurbo, we are not using them anymore unless requested by the customer.

PDI, HD Auto and a number of other companies offer great customer service and are interested in helping-selling you parts.

This is a hard reality of business though. When you're running a tech business that's got staff you don't have any spare time. In my business I got so many requests for advice I had to put a charge on it. $50 gets your questions answered and results in a $50 voucher. So if you use it, it's free. The only alternative was to ignore those people to focus on paying customers.
