concur with Cody. but would rather see pull points at the frame the further you go out the more leverage to bend the frame end . 40`s are a bit light up there . do the mounts fit inside or outside the frame?
how bout move em down to just below that point that that winch line could possible make contact even at a steep angle?

The mounts are inside the frame. Where the paint is peeled on both ends just outside the hoop is where the bumper meets the frame. I am going to talk to JD this afternoon about possible options. I also sent Cody (from Rock Tactics) a note and am waiting to hear back from him.

Cody's whole reason for those style mounts is so that the front angle of the bumper, the angle of the tube and the angle of the shackle mounts are all the same and would act like a slider on the front of the truck and just helps with overall approach angle. He has the regular mounts that can be put on also. We may end up going that way. We'll see.

My FJ got a new hat...
Swapped the OEM rack and lights for the ARB. I'll be adding LED's in the near future.

how bout incorporating the tow point & hoop in one them the round of the tubing would allow for a smooth point in n when the line would go that far.

It rubbing along the tube wouldn't be a problem, smooth vs sharp 90

So what about putting that same plate on the out side of the hoop. Looks like in the third pic. The edge of the hoop is close to frame, so I know the leverage is working against you, but it wouldn't be that that far out the way. Would have to put the pin for the DRing from outside as opposed to from either side. But would make it work.

I do like the design either way. As far as the actuall hight when comparing it to the hood. If ya roll backwards will the hood hit first or the bumper?

Forget that last part. You posted a side pic:):):). Not even close. :)

Nice Brian. I like the look of that rack much better than the OEM.

As for my bumper, I spoke with Cody at Rock Tactics about it this morning. I told him my thoughts and he really didn't want to see me go through the hassle of cutting things off and re-welding. We also talked about the overall length of the bumper and he said he made it so short because that's what the hardcore crowd over on Pirate was asking for. He has another version that is about 6.5" longer and 1" taller. So, he is sending me another bumper......the longer, taller one only this time he is sending the shackle mounts unattached. He is going to send both the angled mounts (like pictured) and the standard mounts that would go on the face of the bumper. JD is going to bend up a new hoop once we have the actual bumper. We will probably make it taller and a little narrower than the current one. I am hoping that this will put the angled shackle mounts on the outside of the hoop and just inside the frame. :D

JD from Deep South Fab in Lacombe is doing the work for me, BTW. He also cut the sheet metal for the rear flares. I couldn't bring myself to do it. It was too clean. JD on the other hand had no issue taking the cutting wheel to both rear fenders........

Just opened the box on a Tekonsha P3 brake controller.

Seeing Brian's great looking new ARB rack reminds me to say that there's an ARB rack with mesh floor, fit kit, and lights for $550 on the Forum. Guy lives in NW Arkansas and is willing to drive part way to make sale. If you're looking for a rack, check it out. Seems to be a good deal. Plenty of photos.

The brake controller is great. That is what I used with my big ass camper. I bought an extra harness and can now switch it between the FJ and 4Runner.

I was looking at getting one for the Chevy. How hard are they to install?

dontcha wanna?

Btw, anyone with ideas of how to wire a radio and build a dash I could use some help

dontcha wanna?

It has to be wired from scratch

Where should I get a brake controller from? Can't seem to find one that has a plug I need

dontcha wanna?
