Sorry to get off topic but.....question:
Shopping has made me itchy for myself when tripping across these ads for 100 series.
How is that V8 and vehicle in general for towing? (40 on a trailer)
Any mileage points to fear with a 100?
Any ideas?

The 4.7 is a good motor. It towed my 55 just fine in a pickup. The 100 is heavier and AWD so it's towing capacity is lower, but should do fine with a 40.

The only real mileage to worry about is the timing belt. Its spendy and difficult to do at about 100K

I thought about it a lot, but I need a bed for the 5th wheel.

100 series would be great for that. 4.7 seems to be a great motor. Todds towed 10k lbs once and it cruised in top gear. The fjc tt took a 4.7 4runner from the factory at zero miles and hooked 9k lbs to the back, never took it off, and put 100k miles on in a year, no problem. Goebs just picked up a 100 and set it up to tow his 40. Now he just needs to go somewhere.

Wonder if I could sleep in the back.:)
Does the second seat fold up? That would be cool.

What would be a good buy for a 40th anniversary LC with 174K and in excellent condition?
Bone stock, no rust, no dings, a little wear in drivers seat rest of interior is spot less.
Not sure on maintenance records yet.
I know what book value is but whats this worth in the Mud world?
I'm thinking under $7k would be fair and mid to low 6's would be real nice?
thoughts?

Dont know yet about lockers. Its at a used car dealer about an hour from me and the dealer was confused about that question and couldnt tell from the pics. I would need to just go look at it.

If it is a 100 series it will not have a front locker.

Many people advertise lockers because of the center diff lock. Be sure to put an eyeball on the rear diff lock switch on the dash.

This one is a 1997, 80 series.

Imo....that seems high!

Lockers doesn't usually raise the price cause no one knows what it is.

If you are looking at 80s now, check out lx450s. More of those had lockers, and sometimes they are cheaper than the land cruiser equivalent.

I was looking at 80's for the kid and 100's for me/towing. I kind of jumped around on my topic........I know very unusual for a clubhouse thread.
So the 80 wouldnt need to tow.

YOu should be able to get a clean sub 200k mile fzj80 for well less than 5k$ all day.
