I just finished up my land Rover seat swap.

Those tan ones look great. I have yet to finish up the wiring for the controls on mine. How bad was it fitting the control wiring in the center console?
Was really easy. Being the lx450 it had a sub rather than the cup holder. Tons of space with that sub gone. Only things I used from stock seats was seat belt and power plug.

They are pretty hard to find in gray. I am so jealous of the person who did find the gray ones.

Disco seats only come in tan or black. Some pretty rare Kalahari edition seats have cloth centers (with leather sides), but almost all seats are leather. The black looks pretty good with the grey. I snagged some leather middle rows and refinished them with Fiebings to match the black. Very happy with how they turned out.

SCORE!!!! I cannot believe I took a chance and went to a new parts yard and scored some black Disco seats in excellent condition! Harness, buttons, everything for $45 each!!! I am on cloud 9 right now. I might need some help with the power supply wires for the new harness if anyone has the knowledge. I cannot believe my luck today. And if anyone is interested, I found a LS 400 with a leather steering wheel in great shape. Just some scuff marks. Send me a PM and I could go grab it. It is medium brown though, so I don't see it matching much. Or I would be happy to trade it for a gray/black one in similar condition. I will probably post a thread on it later depending on interest.

Thanks and that's a killer deal on the Seats. Only ones I could find around me I had to drive 4 hours and paid 220 for seats switches and harness. You'll be very happy with them. Armrest is so nice.

I was debating just chopping off the mounting brackets on my original seats and fitting and lining up the new Disco's on the old brackets and welding them to it. Or should I shorten/lengthen the Disco brackets and just drill new holes? Any thoughts?

Great Ideas here for front seats. I have a 97 collectors edition fzj80 with tan leather seats. I definitely need new front seats and I am ok removing the power from these seats and just use manual sliders/recliner for regular seating position adjustment.

options I am considering after reading thru this thread:

A. Pick a car seat & bracket from Planted with slider that will take me the least amount of time to replace from these brands (Land Rover Disco Seats with Arm rests, WRX Recaro, or BMW e46 leather)

OR

B. Buy Planted brackets with sliders and install either Procaro Elite seats or Corbeau

my issue is this, I want to spend the least amount of time possible to make this seat transformation possible (no welding, just want to remove old seats and install Planted brackets and new seats on top = plug-n-play installation). Also what is the avg you spent doing either option above?

Thoughts from owners that tried one of the options above?

After taking the seat out of the Disco and looking at the bracket, there is no way you will be able to install the seat without removing/cutting the Disco seat bracket. One side is almost 6 inches too tall. I know I will be welding a new bracket. But if anyone has other solutions for some custom parts I can buy in order to "plug n play", then I am very interested too.

I just found a cylinder next to the Disco seat belt clip and a yellow wire going to the clip. The cylinder has a symbol on it not to wrench on it. Is that an airbag?

Yes Its an airbag. I removed and trashed it. Extended my stock belt bracket about 2 inch to bolt in that location. The brackets removed from Disco seat is just as low as cruiser. Rails are like 18 wide and cruiser is 14.5 I think. You need brackets to extend inward to bolt to factory holes. The front bolt bracket needs to have a bit cut out of it for Rover seat to be centered. I made all my brackets close to same size as cruiser for passanger side. Lower on drivers because that seat lifts a lot. It's kind of a pain holding seats to do all this but a friend and some beer helps.

I noticed how much wider the Disco was. Little over 16 inches. I am going to try to weld a plate across the two sliders and then weld the brackets to that. I really like yours though. I am taking that into consideration. Considering you made it work and it looks great. Do you mind explaining the wiring harness connection to the existing cruiser? I have all the harnesses for the Disco. I just need to know the sequence for the 4 wire lineup on the Disco vs. the 5 wire lineup on the Cruiser.

I don't know much about what's available aftermarket. I have had rovers and love the interior so I knew that's seats I wanted. See a lot of people do BMW but I wanted armrest. I have about 225ish in my swap and some time.

Yeah i can tell you what I did. I plan on changing one part of it next week. I can give you my phone number if you want. Would be easier to explain. I'm doing service calls all day so not a lot of time to type
