After my 4runner frame split I made the decision to upgrade. I found a very clean one owner 06 with 171k on it. My list of activities for this week is the following:

AHC flush
Spark Plugs
Front pads and rotors and bearing replacement.
Oil change
Front and rear diff fluid and transfer case change.
Steering tilt motor replacement
New tires
Replacing Evap box cover for cabin air filter use.
Few bulbs that are out.
Air Filter.
Anyone have any other critical things they would perform immediately? I know I have to do the timing belt soon, it was done at the dealer at 90k. Car has a pretty extensive service history. Would anyone recommend draining transmission and refilling what came out via side fill?

I’d add

  • Transmission fluid drain and fill (only replaces about 25% of fluid)
    Power steering fluid
    Snake sunroof drains
  • Engine Air Filter Air Filter 17801-50040
  • Fuel filter OEM: 23300-50090
  • Lube Propeller Shaft & Zerk Fittings
  • Heater tees and coolant replacement
  • 8724860460 (2 required)
  • New PCV Valve ($15)
    • 2003+ PCV Valve: 1220450030
  • Also I’d reboot my coils if I’m doing plugs anyway. Denso sells a kit

I would do front wheel bearings as well while you're replacing front brakes. And don't forget to grease the needle bearings too.

I would drain coolant, pull the radiator, and backflush the fins once it's pulled. At that point it's easy (possible) to backflush the AC condenser coil from the engine side. I'd also change the heater tees.

I do a trans drain/fill (with Toyota WS fluid) every year or two, and a brake fluid flush every year.

AHC flush is mentioned, but also important is to check AHC pressures.
