The pics where you have sanded through all the colors is consistant with my 1963 FJ45SWB. The red is "first" and is the primer, on these early ones it seems some of the parts only had primer (red) on the inside, bolted to body side. That looks similar to what I am looking for (Yellow-Beige) as my stock color as well. Painted it with a poor match (in Dupont Centari), that was too yellow in the mid 80's. Should have had it remixed.
I still have a Gas tank strap, with a kinda "new and shiny" virgin sample that was under the seat. Can't find pic now, but will take another; although online pics are not great... I really want a good match of this if it is the same. Prolly need to track down Treeroot and compare to his actual samples. I suspect in the long run however that you still need to sample and test one or more times. (from my experiece...)
it's been 20+ years and it's time to repaint.

the three hues on this rig are red, tan/yellow, and green. by the way i "scraped" the green paint and grey primer off on the hood and you can really see the rusty red color well. does anyone know if the very early cruisers received an industrial rust preventative primer?? During my scraping session i also noticed the "tan/yellow" color was much harder to get to "chip" off like the green paint and grey primer, could this be the original paint?
here are some pictures
side note... what is this sticker.
paint pics are of the side panel and hood after a bit of sanding..
