Feel like an underachiever looking at the post(s) above.

Now that I have been driving the truck regularly, fixing the little things.

Added a second battery.

Repaired the switch (pulled, cleaned, reassembled) that activates the solenoids for 4wd/2wd. If you look closely at the photos you will see that the throttle is actually a two position switch.

Beautiful diesel rig! Sometimes a "like" just isn't enough!

Say it ain’t so!

This is right up there with when I heard Tom (@lostmarbles) and Rudi (@bj40green) were parting ways with their rigs.

Sarge - I’m sure it was a tough decision to come to and very sorry to see you let it go.

Just in case you wind up cruising this forum less after the sale - thanks, 1000X over, for all the help along the way. It’s folks like you willing to impart their wisdom and experience to folks like me that make this forum such a great thing to be a part of.

It was a tough decision, but easier in the past year and not being able to drive it except for very short trips. Our roads are badly neglected, over 25,000 of us are barely getting part time work on Heavy Highway and it really shows. Given that, a tired and broken body (both myself, and the Cruiser) made it easier to make a final decision. If it's left to go much longer, won't be enough of it left to justify a resto on it - so I'd rather let someone enjoy it and do it some well deserved justice.

At least for now, the GSD seems to have forgiven me a bit, although I'm sure he won't be happy when someone takes it away from here:mad:.

My time spent is here is to enjoy the community and offer up some help if I'm able - my pleasure to do what I can.

Hey Sarge

Good to see you active again but so sad that your TLC is to go. Like the other guys who commented, my work on the Dagha Boy benefitted hugely from your input and advice and more than once prevented stupid rooky mistakes being made. I was hoping to get down to Ohio to buy you a beer this week, but the annual family get together with the MWFD's family has jammed me up in De Kalb. Next year... I also hope you will keep an active eye on mud and keep directing those of us that need direction.

I'll explain for those who haven't read the thread: Aftermarket FJ40 Dash Pad

I didn't want to put the logo in there in the first place. It was a business decision as I had too much invested in the tooling already. When we went to texture the tool, porosity showed up in that spot (Think big gas pocket under the surface in cast aluminum).

The tool was approximately two years old when we textured it. (It sat in a corner for two years as we were too busy with the OEM's to play with the aftermarket 40 stuff.) So came the plate with the logo. I looked at other solutions, but none were cost effective.

Thought it was the best way to get a good dash pad out there that will outperform Toyota OEM dash pad.

That's why on the website I put in BIG BOLD letters that there is a logo on the dash pad.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR 40!!!!

Rats, I really look forward to your yearly trip to satisfy the MWFD's family - besides, folks here still talk about the "mysterious guy from Africa" that came into town, I get asked some pretty odd questions about how I know people like you. It probably doesn't help, but their told it's "top secret" , lol. As it happens, for once my mom's side of the family is having a large graduation party Saturday - so I'll probably be gone anyway and it will be nice to see relatives I rarely get a chance to catch up with.

Life changes - gotta roll with it. I miss the days of off-roading with friends, working on rigs and seeing what's around the next bend, but got grandkids now to keep me busy as well as the garden tractor hobby. I'll never leave MUD - this place is special and the folks in it are considered friends of the highest regard. I do check in often and surf, many times I just don't log in as I have nothing to add, but will try to get on here a lot more, it's a distraction that keeps me out of trouble if nothing else, lol.

A quick shout out to the quality of the dash pad. I love mine and never notice the logo. It looks much better than the cracks and foam I had before:)

Each time this comes up I am reminded of all the times I see the logos of manufacturers on the front of their products we buy. Like in the photo below, how many would complain about the Ford logo in their steering wheel? As I look around my home I see the logos everywhere in the most prominent places. If the logos are so offensive, go around your home, vehicles and other places and remove them or cover them. Easy.

Personally, I don't see the logo in the dash pad unless I actively look for it. But I know the replacement looks 100% better than what my 40 had when I purchased it and that is why I bought it in the first place. Personally, I don't understand why this is a question at all and why the manufacturer is being questioned about this.

The only logo on my Cruiser are the ones above the front fenders. IMO it adds something.
Other than that all others were removed years ago.
Years ago when I moved my parents in with me they had a new Dodge car that I wound up driving.
One of the first things I did was remove the decal with the dealer's name and address.
When my dad asked why, I told him if I am going to advertise the dealer's name then I should get paid for it.

The logo in the middle of the dash would drive me nuts but gotta give cudos for the save on the dash blemish as it falls in line with my philosophy of if you **** it up cover it up by making it look intentional

Like I said - life moves on and you have to roll with it at times. I've put this off since 2010 when I realized the damage done from the construction accident was never going to get better, only worse. I had it on the road at that point - then remembered why I let my old Sami go to someone else a few years earilier, just couldn't stand to drive it nor do the necessary work.

I remember doing all those front axle jobs, both on mine and other's rigs - it is a messy job, but satisfying when it's all over.

Really digging those mats - very nice work.

@thenative1 Those look great! I hope you made them yourself
And did not dish out the scratch to Ward. Very crooked dude....

Thanks @tls3601! Yes, I made them myself using materials from Sailrite (www.sailrite.com), one of my favorite brands/Web sites. Their free DIY video library is extensive and excellent. A few years ago, in a much more ambitious project, I used their stuff to make a replacement soft top for a barn find JDM BJ44 that I sold, and now wish I hadn’t (images below).

Haven’t heard that about J. Ward, unless by “crooked” you mean “is making money hand over fist.”
