Took my 78 fuse block that had snapped in half causing various electrical anomalies (mostly turn signal issues), stripped it down to bare plastic, glued, bought kids air dried modelling clay, made a mold of said fuse block, a day later poured in epoxy resin, a day later finishing touches with a dremel and rebuilt.
No more problems and passed its annual inspection yesterday with the guy saying no problems at all it's a beautiful truck (though I think the gift bottle of wine helped)
 
Almost finished the front suspension. This is my first attempt at something like this, so it took me way too long and many F words were said (but I've been learning a ton and it's fun seeing things come together). I still need to reattach the front drive shaft (googling zerk fitting removal next) and I need to find shorter small bolts for the spring pin hangers (the originals are too long and hit the new ome spring/bushing) and then it's on to the back. I'm not out of the woods yet, but a huge thanks to mud and the FB group for all of the knowledge and assistance.

Got new 10" speedometer cable installed from transfer case to speed generator (that I'm told should exist on a 1970 but does) and California "blue & yellow/ correct year" plates registered to our 1970 LC through DMV's "year of manufacture" (YOM) program. No more white plates!!

Shout out to Davesclp.com for the period correct plates.

About a year of use, and the rehab 2F is either making carbon, or moving carbon. Number Four fouled. 1 mm plug gap, coil and igniter with points. Dwell was checked when the new distributor was installed.

Just swap-in clean plugs when I change the oil.

I believe that the cause is burning a small amount of oil from the rings, or, it is from the valves before I replaced the seals. When I pull plugs, just after cleaning them, I see a bit of oil on their surface, so it suggests rings. Some of the oil contains a bit of sludge (rust), so it is understandable why the deposit doesn't burn away completely.

The fix, rebuilding the engine couldn't hurt. Maybe the plug (Bosch WR8DC) is the wrong heat rating? However, making scrap-yard machines continue their utility is kinda fun. Plus it requires old-school knowledge that is frowned upon, or straight-up hated, in the age of self-driving, self-mending automobiles.

Self mending? You don’t fix modern cars you just drive them until something breaks then then throw them away.

I’ll agree keeping these jalopies running is a dying art.
