What have you done to update your interior?

Of course it's your truck, duh! But, you posted asking for opinions/advice for YOUR truck and that is what you got, which is what a forum is about. If you don't like what folks may say, don't ask.

Currently, more modern IS the cheaper, plastic interior. So when you say you want a more modern interior, that's what you are asking for as I see it. Or perhaps our definition of "modern" differs, which is fine, but you should clarify what that "modern" means to you then.

Modern to me doesn't necessarily mean cheap, just updated, yes updated items can be cheaper but not necessarily. I believe I said before that I wasn't looking to change the build quality of my interior, but just the look. I like certain design elements from the 2003+ facelift, yet certain parts of them I'm not too fond of. In the end I'm looking for IDEAS, that doesn't mean I'm going to necessarily pull through with them but it gives me an idea of what other people are doing, if anything at all.

If you don't have anything to contribute then don't say anything at all, I hate it when people muck up threads with unnecessary arguments. Yes, what you contribute is your opinion but you do not need to be confrontational about it, and if that's your approach to things then go have fun elsewhere.

I am too looking for some ideas! new to the LX and think the interior is a little bland. Any aftermarket speaker grills? Upgrade the graphics on the stock nav??

I know some people have upgraded their speaker grills with newer waterproof material. What color is your interior? I have tan, but to me grey always looked more contemporary. The tan and brown hues Toyota used were kind of dated (even my mother said so when we first picked it up back in August of '98). As for the nav, I think you're stuck with what you have unfortunately.

Certain design elements I do prefer from the LX over the Cruiser. Chrome door handles for instance, even though they're kinda cheesy in some people's minds, just add a finishing touch. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to deck my truck out with chrome Buick portholes and put chrome on every single surface I can find, but something that breaks the monotony would be really nice. I'm not looking to completely change the look of the interior, but simple bits here and there to help take away some of that blandness.

I am not going to get into a pissing match landy, life it too short and I have other things to do today. no ill feelings, best to your upgrades search.

Personally, just being able to ditch the Nakamichi CD/Tape Deck made my interior look massively newer. Actually, that was the only thing that actually felt dated to me. Just drove a 2015 RX350 when I got an oil change last week and could not wait to get my LX back.

Replaced some of the burned bulbs - one in the dashboard, one in the gear selection area. I think one bulb is not working where the HVAC button is, but I am still unsure how to get there to replace it. I am planning to either paint, or vinyl wrap the area in front of the cup holder to cover up the scratches. I have seen members who did this, and it looks nice. I am taking it slow since this is just cosmetic. I also have an Alpine touchscreen head unit with GPS that PO installed.

Gutted it...

Sound deadening?

Yeah I updated my head unit and speakers with a new Kenwood DDX371 touchscreen awhile ago.

Helped to a certain point but the interior is still too 90s looking for lack of a better term. Don't get me wrong, I like the understatedness over the LX interior, but being exposed to a bunch of newer vehicles has me in the mood to do some updating.

Even painting certain console/switch panels may help, I just don't know where.

Anyone know if it's possible to swap in the newer climate control control panel with the dials (pictured above) into a 2000 LX470?
