Lexus has been gutted and mothballed. Soon will be getting a 1998 12 valve Cummins 6bt. I already have an upgraded turbo and other small mods for more power to be added. My A442 is being built here locally with added clutches to the forward drum and an upgrade to the vb. Next step is wait for Dustin to bud some complete kits! :)

At this moment! I'm going to build a turbo 5.3L for the wife's 80 :D

Aussie locker loaded into the 9.5"!

More build info

2 20' Conex boxes from AZ Mobile Storage sitting on top of 20 tons of gravel, 7 36' purilns spanning them (welded to tabs welded to the boxes), and a sheet metal roof. It will get 2 cross braces supporting the purlins in case we get a big snow (doubtful but if it happened that would be a lot of weight). It's a pretty inexpensive way to build a solid sun shade with 2 water tight (and mouse proof) storage areas. Lots more room in the garage now to work on stuff. :)

Cool
Detail clarification question - single "C" purlins spans the 36' or 2 "C" welded together to make a beams for the span?

7 single C purlins spanning the whole thing. I didn't think about welding 2 together, you could build a house on top of it then!!

How is the pricing on these? Remember six or seven years ago you could pick them up pretty cheap. Guess it was better to sell them for something here rather than haul to the coast and ship them back empty to China.

I paid about $6500 for the pair (delivered), they're in pretty nice shape and the doors work well. There is no way I could have built anything as solid (and mouse proof) for that much.

I like the way it is coming together, Cruiser yard art...:clap:

Dropped the transmission and transfer case to (hopefully) stop them from leaking all over the country.

I replaced the transmission front seal and glued the covers on both units with Permatex black RTV sealant instead of the leaky paper gaskets I used last time.

The mess . . .

Did you get a favorable or unfavorable color change of the test fluid?

LCP: I see Sammy the supervisor was inspecting your work o_O

Stepmurr - that looks like quite the job. I like your creative soution of pulling out from the cab!

For myself, I used the winch on the 40 to help me pull out a large exposed root from my front yard tree cutting frenzy this weekend. Both of the old Palo Verdes were rotten inside and mostly hollow, full of rotten rainwater, and was bug central. No wonder they were falling apart.
