Spent some peace and quiet on the mighty Colorado.... the maker of the lands of the great American Southwest and provider of sustenance to over 50 million Americans and Mexicanos (though they got the short end of the water usage treaty regarding the Colorado River basin)....

But as I have learned in the past, better to build a road rather than wish you did in hindsight..... takes a bit longer to get to where you want to be (see above), but then again, if you are Land Cruising, time is not really of the essence; or at least, it shouldn't be.... these are meant to be used ... in all fashion of the word.

I specifically remembering you saying this truck wouldn't be seeing mud

This weekend the wife and I installed a new suspension under her rig! The leafs that were on there stock and absolutely dead. After it was all said and done I gave old Toko about a 3 inch lift!

We went from this:

To this!

We got the suspension kit from @reevesci aka Jason at Trail Tailor. It's a Tough Dog kit and included everything including a new steering stabilizer. The ride is night and day different for the better and now it doesn't have that lovely body lean when going around a corner! It took me (with a bit of help from the wife) about a day and a half to do the install. This was my first suspension install and there were a few learning curves but I think it went pretty well. Now all we need is an alignment and she will be good to go for another 29 years!

Swap Stoffel's 33s in and fill up those wells now. I just ordered my new shoes. First install is always fun.

@ozcruiser the steering wheel and boss are both JDM aftermarket parts. The wheel is made by Nardi which is pretty popular over there. No clue on the boss.

I finally got around to fitting a factory center pod with custom guts. Boost, pyrometer and dual USB ports.

Dan,
Were the gauges mounted with angle rings?
They look good!

Yes. Autometer gauges with Autometer angle rings. I used the factory metal base, inner housing and hood. The housing was modified to clear the gauges and I made a faceplate out of 1/8 inch birch plywood.

Not mine per se, but installed a new suspension on @Beastiethe70 rig. I mean a damn night and day difference.

This type of labor gets old quick!!

Poor truck was a suspension rust bucket...

@Beastiethe70 had been driving with broken springs and destroyed bushings... of course all painted over from Japan.

Anyway, new shocks, new shackles, ubolts, and spring packs. Night and day difference.

Luckily I had stacks of grinding wheels on hand and a torch. :)

Took my 16 year old son to an all-day course on off-roading in Beast. Course was in Uwharrie National Forest in NC and conducted by Uwharrie Off-road Training Center (UORTC dot com). I would highly recommend it if you haven't yet learned how to safely bail out on a crazy steep climb when you start slipping backwards. My son loved it despite having to master off-roading while dealing with a flaky ignition switch and clutch slave cylinder. We drove straight to Hurricane Creek trail west of Asheville for some more 4x4 action and camping. When we got back to Chapel Hill, we covered the interior floor with dynamat, pressure washed the carpet that had been out of the truck for 4 years, and reinstalled it. Also connected the snorkel we installed a while back to the air intake and freed up the suspension seat mechanisms, which I wish we had fixed earlier. It was a great week!
