yeah 1964 :)

Sweet!

Would the tint you posted for t-332 be helpful to whomever mixes the paint?
The guy painting it said he like to use a dupont acyllic or something of similar high quality.

Any recommendations on places to get that paint?

Thanks again, sorry to bombard you with questions :D

I don't know much about paint. I don't think they make that paint anymore. There is more info if you search on it here on mud. The tint codes I think should help though to get it even closer. But I would think the dupont they mix for T-332 should be sufficient. I'm sure tint is probably different between manufactures but like I said I really don't know anything about paint.

You can't trust that, someone wrote it in pencil...This literature is much more complete and it was info and codes up to 74.. This is actual Toyota literature not paint chips from other paint companies.

yeah i can take a chip of paint from the inner glove box, or a part that was hidden form the sun etc and get it scanned...

Is that method pretty reliable?

I had some paint mixed at a local Dupont store, they used their color camera on a sample I brought in. It was not what I would even call a close match. It was a real disappointment and I'll never do it again. This place is a large volume Dupont dealer and they know what they're doing, the guy who did it wasn't really confident that it would match, I don't think they have had very good results with the color cameras. I would use it as a last resort only.

Thanks man :)
I appreciate the info.

So T-332 should be a sufficient information for dupont company to mix the paint?

Super excited to order some and spray it and see the results :D

Thanks again!

This lit isn't 100% either but coupled with the other lit it's another piece of the puzzle. I think it's seminole but it could be solar or carnival. I would mix the seminole first though. The hard thing is all these colors are cororna, crown, cruiser and stout but you don't know what is what with the old old stuff.

Hey Destin, if you want to get a scan closer to your original try to pull a kick vent or something and buff the hell out of the paint (on the inside surface) before getting it scanned. Buffing will take off the oxidized/faded paint and expose a more "true" color.

I did this with a kick vent on my 69 to get paint scanned at ace for my floors. Turned out real good I think on the color match...not sure I like the paint though.

HiJack...

Wes, since you are now the care taker of the holy bible of old paint codes, do you have the tint codes to Sundune White, or a match I can bring to my local paint shop supplier? If I remember correctly, you figured that 1276 Sundune White was the closest color match for our rig's. Was it a '63/'64 Toyota color? I tired to find the PPG code, but 1276 is an Astin Martin code :meh:

My daughter originally wanted Horizontal Blue, and it might still be Horizontal Blue, (I always thought Horizontal blue only started in '68...or was that Capri Blue...can you confirm this please) anyways, at least I got her interested in the original off-white color, and I am planning a trial paint job just to make sure.

Finally, can you please confirm what blue color/code was actually used for a '64 40, and it's tint codes or closest match...just in case ;)

Thanks!

HiJack over

Have not looked yet :)

The paint on the bib seems to be pretty intact, might just leave it :)

The t 332 is being mixed as we speak.
Very likely being sprayed tomorrow :D

So what was the code for the T 332?

So what was the code for the T 332?

99146H was the ppg code.

:D

Assuming that is correct on the image posted below.

Looks like your color you requested is on that image too, with ppg code.
Get a pint and see how it sprays!

I will be posting comprehensive images in the color thread when i get the spray test back :D
