I have not got my FSM yet but I was wonerding what the part of the air intake system is called that is right above my PS left wheel. this I think is the access point for a snorkel if I where to add one. I think there is another filter in the black box but have not investigated it much yet. Can I upgrade this aside from the snorkel? is this where I would ad one of those Ram air intakes I see at the autoparts store?

If I sounds like I have no idea what I'm talking about ,it is because I dont ;)

thanks all.

That's the airbox, known as the tunacan around here. I assume by blackbox you mean the thing with wires coming out, that's the Mass Air Flow sensor. As for ram air intakes, they tend to suck in more dirt which you don't really want when you're offroad a lot.

Inside the fender or outside? There is a baffle inside the fender to reduce noise, but otherwise...are you talking about the air filter canister? That would be where your filter lives :)

faceing the engine there is a large, round canister that has three flip up locks holding the lid in place. i have inspectted the filter that is in there( assume this is my air filter), looks good.

steming off of the left had side of the canister is a tube ( black about 4 inches wide) the enters a large black box that is partly in the fender (PS). is there another filter in this box that I should be looking to inspect?

on a somewhat related note. I don't have a whole lot of stream crossing to conqure in Tucson, but I do like the look of the snorkel. I have been told that using a snorkel you also get the benift of haveing your fresh air intake well above the road. we do have a lot of dirty, dusty roads here in tucson. Can I justify a snokel solely on rising the level of the air intake?

Thanks all

The tuna can is the small round clip-on container underneath the air filter canister. You should routinely remove and clean the tuna can.

No, there is only 1 air filter and that is in the air filter canister with the 3 clips on top. The tuna can is clipped on the bottom of the air filter canister (2 clips.)

If you need justification for a snorkel, then use the "cleaner" air bit.

The parts in the fender are just intake routing to behind your PS light housing. Those pieces are removed when you add the snorkel.
