Attempting to clean up the fenders... Obviously gonna go doved front and I'm using the first foot or so of the original fender and will weld the two together... but the rain came and well.... I work outside... the beginning:

Messed up the original grill so I'm using the Catty (Scion) badged grill... Catty relic.
Also the flat-tow bar... can't afford a trailer and no place to store it... so flat-towing for now. It comes off with quick pins, but I'm testing the towing right now, so it's on.

Oh yeah... sealed the weld seams with Bondo "Plastic Metal"... kinda like JB weld but comes premixed and in a larger tube... it's awesome for pin holes which I had a ot of... I just smeared it along all the weld lines... the cool thing is, it's sandable and drillable so it'll sand smooth once i get to that... better than bondo... for now.

I like the stinger!

Is Lorena making an appearance in Hot Springs at SCC?

Stinger is removable!
Yes... it's coming.

Here is a pic of me blocking the fender holes... and how it will run until I figure out the covered fenders:

looking good! glad lorena is comin to the crawl!

by doved front you mean narrowed grill, headlights closer to together or fenders that are closer in ( same mounts just not as wide as stock fenders?

actually, by doved front, I mean no fenders... I got over a foot narrower when removing fenders... I'll eventually oneday got 40 bezel... but not now. lemme bust my factory lights

Cool.

whats the backspacing on your fj cruiser steelies? 17s right?

Lenny peep this comparison... including flares, I've shaved over a foot each side by removing fenders alltogether

crazy-stupid... 4.75" backspacing on them things... but I'm running 2" spacers from TrailGear via WabFab. They 17's and I don't keep'em clean

Hey, someone just sexted this pic to me:
(yes the 40" tires look small compared to the rocks, that's why my door is now scratched)

the comparison pic makes those tires look even bigger! wow didn't think just removing fenders would make it THAT much narrower!

damn i was hoping the 17 would have 3.75 backspacing ( yeah right). thats the BS i am running now. and like it.

Flexing and scoping the babe on the hill :hillbilly: anxious to hear how the flat towing goes

FML. Flat towing won't work since the castor has not been corrected. It turns the opposite way the tow rig turns... DANGEROUS. suppose it'll crawl around Auburn for the time being.

Just thinking out loud but have you done the craigslist search for a tow dolly?

you plan to correct castor correction or just pay attention when you drive?

you getting any front vibes?

spitting at a guy right now about one close to local...

hell no, I ain't increasing my driveline angle with castor correction. As it is now, the pinion points close to center to the xfer case, also with the axle pitched forward like that, makes it easier to turn...... the down side is: when flat towing having the axle this way makes it want to wander more and not return to center... for a trail rig though, it works better... so i'm leaving it.

isn't one of those holes an air intake for the air filter housing? or are 3fe set up differently under the hood?

You are correct. it pulls from the fender... which is no longer there.... The air box is still there, just pulling warm air from the engine bay. I'll address that in the future.
