Well....It's Boosted

Sounds like a few different ways to go about it! right on thanks!
If you turn the fuel down you may not need a waste gate . My truck boosts to about 14 lbs max 10 most of the time . I can make it get to 1200 if I push it all the way up mt. Washington but it stays below 1150 most of the way up . I have no waste gate on my truck (wired shut) crack the nut on the pump and turn your flat head clockwise to turn it down .

Gotta commend you on your gauge pod. Love it, simple and unique.

I'd tap your boost gauge elsewhere..... like on the throttle body. You'll get a corrupted value tieing it into the waste gate activator like you have it.

What do you mean by a corrupted value?

And thanks, stainless to match the rest haha

Well admittedly its getting a bit picky and all but it is best to pick up your boost for the gauge as close to the intake as possible on a dedicated pickup. This will give you the most accurate reading. Boost spikes which are significant in an IDI diesel with a throttle plate, you can monitor these as long as you go to the correct side of the throttle body..... I didn't, I tapped the wrong side so don't do what I did.

Also, Imagine your wastegate actuator diaphragm tears a bit.... You see a boost drop in that line, your gauge tells you your boost is down because its reading from that line. Your engine is likely not seeing the boost drop even though the gauge says it is. You crank up the wastegate to compensate for the boost drop (that isn't actually there at all)...... you see where this is leading?

Also, if you eventually install an intercooler, it is better to read the pressure on the cold side (intake manifold)...

So this was my first attempt. Rubber auto meter boot thing cracked on a road trip.... later I replaced it with a compression fitting. The rubber band stopped the boost leak from Prince George to Alaska just fine. :)

Tap the side port/plug thing on the other side (passenger side) of the throttle body. The way I did it I could read boost pressure but when the throttle plate closed I was on the wrong side of the venturi to see the spikes. It worked, just could have been better.

OK, thought about taping the pipe going across the engine, would that accomplish the same thing?

Nice! love the individual pods!

I'm down to a vacuum gauge and a Tach now. I had a Temperature gauge but it died... one of these days I'll get the OEM Temp gauge again. I still need to get a 2F Temp sender and 'adapter' from someone's spare parts pile.

Ya.
Also.... move your waste gate pick up over there a well so you'll be good to go when the intercooler goes in. See if you can tig in some nice bungs so it looks purdy purdy.

Lachlan... Just drive the beatch and enjoy. When its time for an intercooler come by my place and well get it sorted. Beers and TIG welding my friend. Youll be hauling up the steep side if the Malahat doing 90kph without a care in the world. Ya thats right.... passin motherf*ckers. :smokin:
