So we are getting closer to the time we need to decide what is going on with the website, should we have a get together of interested people and discuss more ideas (soon) and where to go with this? is there more info needed? pics? Rob M mentioned a good point, if we don't say what we want we can hire anyone but they still won't be able to read our minds. I can free up some evenings to go over this stuff, just need a couple days notice.

I realize that it is the end of the camping/wheeling season for most of us, and that our energy levels are low and we are busy with work, families, approaching Christmas, etc., but WE NEED MORE INPUT AND PARTICIPATION from members if we are to remain a successful club. Too many members just sit back and let the usual volunteers do most of the planning and work. I was disappointed at the last meeting where not one person was interested in being nominated for the 4 club officers positions. Our club is what we make of it and we can't expect the thing to run itself without member input.
This new website requires input from all of us, otherwise we are just throwing a lot of good money away and depending on others to read our minds and come up with something good. Likewise, the Christmas party so far only has 28 people committed. Last year we had over 45. So, members, its time to get up off your collective asses and get moving on this website and Christmas party participation. I say that we should scrap the whole idea of a new website unless things get moving real soon.

Jeff I think you mean intrenched not Interested.Nobody else would step up to the plate.

Website ideas.

The history of the Toyota LandCruiser is important.

A trail run page that allows member input, directions, etc.

A photo page for members cruisers.

A forum page with links to mud.

A 'for sale' and swap page.

A members only 'meeting minutes' page.

Perhaps a nomination page for club officers, volunteers etc, for upcoming events.

A meeting page for 'conferences' in somewhat real time for organizing things such as website ideas.

A sponsors/vendors page.

I'll look around and see if there are any other ideas that come to mind.

Kim, good ideas. A forum though might be too much for our website as it will have to be monitored by someone. We can just use this site for stuff like that and have a sticky at the top for it. I think that a good looking, simple in navigating through, medium maintenance site that is different from the rest of the herd is perfect.

Bylaws

Trip schedules including leaders and perhaps scouts.

Trip reports and pictures

I like this format for a chapter schedule.

A 'Contact US' page.

A page for off road/camping list/safety list.

Example: this format is interesting but maybe a list form is better

History man...start with the history. Hit up GG, Steve Tetu, Bruce Lowen, Rob Milson, Gary and Garry, Rob Mullen...and a few others i've not thought of in this quick post. Might not be as good as a digital photo of today...but history...

Will sort through and see what I have.

Here is an R.A. Mullen article. I remember reading this years ago when I bought my first Landcruiser. I found it extremely interesting and informative.

Kim, good reaserch, I remember that article too, it was one of the first things I read when I got my cruiser too. History should definitly be addressed of both our club and our rides. The calendar layout is great, and for members a suggestion box for other runs whether it's a day trip or week long. Maybe also work with some of our trail partners like 4wdabc and post their trail clean up trips too?

So Kim, when are you running for president?

and a couple more;

Landuse, road closures, cleanup/maintenance drives. Cleanup and maintenance is a good way
to raise awareness of our club and it's responsibility in the back country.

GPS coordinates/comunication and navigation.

Member projects? I know this is on Mud but...what do you think?

Personally I think that what we already have on MUD should remain here and there is no need to duplicate it, which would require more monitoring. Some things should definitely be on the site, the history of the club, our schedule, members, photos, the boring stuff-membership info and rules. Our sponsors/vendors we deal with; organizations -TLCA, 4WDABC, etc. A section where we can post up trail closures might be nice, every time someone goes out and finds a blocked fsr they can let others know.
