@TonyP I think we will have to have some sort of escort in China...if they can keep up. Hah.......
I'm checking it now. Last that I heard that was the way. But they just become part of a big dust cloud. :)

No go...have to get a chinese Drivers license. That is weird. I know Land cruiser groups that have done it. May have gotten special permission. We will probably get wild in Mongolia for a while and then go North back into Russia. North eastern Russia is really wild.

Back to the OP. If it’s a US or nicer trim of the LC elsewhere with water that deep you will probably destroy your door speakers and possibly your power windows.

I think something deep as the height of hood ) of course for short time, as short as it possible. I have discovered information explainer by other members in their threads and found that nothing special in 200 that can surprised. I owned FJ in past and did some modifications, seems as 200 need just the same.

Sorry we got off topic.
Like you said, if it is not submerged long it is good. Just a quick water crossing. I get worried about my starter and alternator when I go through water In my 200. I have been as deep as about 25-30 inches and it made me nervous. Mostly because the starter and alternator are so difficult to get to. I move through without making a big splash and don't cross places that are very wide. My doors have never leaked so far and water has not gotten in through the firewall anywhere.

Thanks @Rinat. I am wondering how difficult it will be to get to India and which route to take....which countries to go through and which to avoid
All Stan's are safety Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are interesting to visit. but to reach India is better to go through Iran and Pakistan as many overlanders doing, or if you will have a chance to get documents for China you can try this way, but not sure if possible to cross border there. I have never been there, only visited surrounding Kazakhstan countries, except China. Of course you have to avoid Afghanistan)

I thought the water cooled alternator and sealed starter on my Patrol came from the factory......but just remembered they were added.
I am trying to find out where they were purchased. I'll let you know. Doubt they were priced like the one above. I would remember. :)

Renat, we ordered the hermetically sealed starter and water cooled alternator from a parts store in Vladivostok. I guess you know the city.
They are made in Japan and imported to Russia and good quality. We payed a little more than $700 total for both. Seems really cheap but that is what happened. We are about to buy them for the 200 we have also. I don't want an accident like @tbisaacs had.

Actually my wife found them and ordered them....she is the one that speaks Russian and knows where to get parts for Land Cruisers and other vehicles in Russia and Europe. She drives in crazy competitions sometimes and uses the Patrol. :)

I ask her exactly where she ordered them and she said Vladivostok is a center for all kinds of parts and many stores have them.
She's an encyclopedia for Land Cruiser parts and where to get them. Kinda weird for a 26 year old girl, but I have learned she knows what she is talking about so I just turn her loose and see what happens.

I am going to measure how deep I think is safe after adding the alternator and starter. Lots of electronics up there on the 200.
Good luck and let me now if you need any more information,
Jim

Seems to be the same alternator as the Taureg and will fit a Land cruiser....the Diesel version anyway. But I would check the output just to be sure.

Guys in the US.......Not sure yet if they have them for our US 5.7 Cruisers. I'll check it out and post here on the forum. We ordered while in the Netherlands visiting Diana's relatives and will be back there soon. I might be able to order several and ship them back. I'm not too keen on ordering from the US. So....more on the situation later.

@Blasst can you confirm if that tourareg water cooled alternator will fit the petrol5.7l?

I'm this close to just ordering a couple used alternators to see how difficult the bracket will be. The VW/Audi group part seems to be identical across quite a few engines and models, the only difference being the water cool piping bends at exit (a separate part) and the pulley (5 vs 7 rib). It has two securing holes, which are in the same orientation as two of the holes in the Toyota part, and probably about the same distance apart. The toyota alternator has a third hole which would need to be accounted for with an additional bracket or a welded sleeve.

It's only about $100 to get the two cores.

Has anyone thought about the emissions air pumps in the front bumper of 5.7 200s?

They can be plumbed into the snorkel. That's what I did anyway.

Totally missed this mention but happy to be a cautionary tale ;)

Slightly off-topic again, but this picture really does it for me. Absolutely love those kinds of woods, feel like they're more rare in the states.
I had the opposite feeling - other than all the water, it looked a lot like the Northeast. Like Northern Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont...
