Washer Bottle Relocate

Mine hangs a little low. A couple months ago, I did finally snag something that pulled the water line out from the bottom of the bottle and drained all my washer fluid. But that was after having it over 4 years. Someday I'll put something there to protect it.

I did the air pump relocate today; I'll do the rest tomorrow. I will say this pic saved me some head scratching as to how that bracket mounted.

And yeah, those instructions need some serious added notes as to which vehicle they are talking about.
Whew, got it done today. Another fiddly job, looking forward to some nuts and bolts projects soon.

The materials of the Expedition One kit are pretty nice. The bottle is heavy duty and holds 2 gallons. The air pump relocate bracket is really nice. The bottle base plate is fine, but I am less of a fan of the bottle hold-down. The provided hardware did not work for attaching the hold-down to the side wall, there is simply no place the nut insert fits where needed. I may have to revisit this if my half-ass screw in the sheet metal doesn't hold.

The instructions are vague at best and misleading at worst. Some of the pages included were definitely not for the GX. And I am not a fan of "instructions" like "drill to size". TELL me the size! And I don't think they addressed the low fluid sensor at all.

Anyway, I'm glad to have it done, the additional clearance in the wheel well and underneath will be welcome. Leaving for Utah in a few weeks!

Dunno. Does the 10-13 bottle hang low like 14+?
I’m almost positive the washer bottle and location is the same, what I am wondering is if maybe there is something different about the engine bay location and the air pump thing. But when I look at all y’all’s photos it seems the same as mine.
I’ll have to compare to my buddy’s 17 some time soon.

I haven't compared the physical reservoir tanks in recent years but 4 different part numbers.

2010-2013 w/headlamp washers

2014-2019 w/headlamp washers

2020-2023 w/headlamp washers

2010-2023 without headlamp washers

Intresting that all years without headlight washers are the same, but with has separate part numbers.
I sent a message to snowbound asking about fit for a 2010. I’ll report back when I hear.

So I heard back from snowbound customs. They said that a customer successfully mounted their reservoir to a 2013, with no headlight washers. Did not explain why they would market it to 14+. Still deciding if I want to go this route or do something DIY and add another project to the mounting list. We’ll see how bad it rubs the reservoir when I get to taking it out on the trails. At that point I may have time for a project I may not. I’d love to use the location of the snowbound version, just behind the grill, instead of relocating the air pump, but use a cheaper plastic bottle, and just fabricate a mount to hold it.

.
if anyone wants to mix it up a bit period correct retro-style OEM , this is a idea ...:)
- also , i now offer the Japan. Spec. real McCoy oem blue tint UV rated washer hose , its a super long section / piece too
- belows TECH. image example shows each decal well , and how it would look in real time on your GX's and Prado"'

I'm going to reply to this just to in case someone searches for it.

I've installing the Expedition One kit - IMHO it's WAY over priced. I have a Canadian 2016 GX460 so it has the headlight washers. I had to drill 2 more holes for the fluid level indicator and the headlight washer. It's a very tight fit. and the instructions are HORRIBLE. it seems in most other applications the air pump fits at the top left of the engine bay, however it seems mine is supposed to fit behind the grill somehow...i came in to take a break and then i'll try that.

there are some companies now that have aluminum reservoirs but they are even MORE expensive. with shipping and duties this came to 700 cad!!

lets see how the rest of it goes.

Lol, see my previous post above...

For a small difrence in price, a far superior installation process, fit, finish, and not relocating the air pump I'll take the Snowbound Custom and did.

$40.00 bucks diffrence.

+1 for Snowbound Customs. I installed a couple weeks ago and so far, so good. The instructions are detailed and accurate, all the pumps and such were easy to mount in the Snowbound tank, and it bolted right up where it's supposed to. I had taken the front bumper off anyway since I was swapping grilles and doing some winch maintenance so swapping tanks took maybe an hour.

Looks like this might be the next thing in my list to prep for my next treatment for Little Tire Syndrome. If I have to get a BMC anyway, might as well just get 35 pizza cutters

Bring it on Hiluxforever! Want to see it!!!:bounce2::bounce:

Slee offroad also has an option.

Besides a high clearance bumper, when is relocating desired? Once you run 34’s and above?
Will depend on a number of factors, not just tire size. Wheel offset and alignment are also factors.

I ran 35's and as the person above said...it depends on the alignment and wheel offset...I did it when it went to 37's (at which point its mandatory )

And to add, not only tire diameter. I smaller fat/wide tire will rub more than a taller skinny (pizza cutter) tire.

Whelp, i decided to give it a shot with the Snowbound one on my non-headlight-washer-equipped 2013 GX460, and I'm in the middle of trying to install it (at the same time I'm installing a Victory Strike front bumper). No way in hell it's happening without a ton of customization. The built-in mount bracket on the Snowbound bottle is a completely different shape than where it seems it should bolt up to the lower headlight support / front bumper upper support bracket. (Though, for such a nice looking (and expensive!) piece of gear, they sure should provide some actual instructions and not a link to someone's writeup for a 5G 4runner with less than stellar pictures of how the thing gets bolted up.)

I know this is on me and not Snowbound, but better install instructions and pics woulda saved my dumb ass.

Anybody 2014+ want a discounted Snowbound kit?

So while ive been searching around a bit more to see if anybody has actually documented getting the Snowbound one to work on 10-13, I just came across a washer fluid bottle relocation/replacement kit from Slee.

(Looks like @Mlachica did mention the Slee one in this thread. Guess I missed that. :( )

They've got a 2010-2014 one and a 2015+ one. This looks way more simple to install and from their pics, you can at least clearly see exactly how it's installed and where it's bolted up.

Anybody using this one from Slee?

I bought one a few weeks ago, but haven't installed it yet. Looks to be good quality though.
