Its called Market Segment. Unfortunately lots of people do it and imo its shyt and does nothing but compromise the brand.

Its so people who typically cant afford a brand, all of the sudden can. Simply that.

The end game in most cases is to spend a few extra $$$ up front so that you aren't buying twice and spending more than you initially didn't want to.
It sucks but pretty much bites everyone at some point.
 
Ok so after testing retesting and taking appart the winch I aquiessed and bought another motor for 300 bucks, BUT Im replacing this entire setup ASAP with a red winch. Im hitting the road and rolling without a winch is not part of my game plan. SO bewarned if you for whatever reason simply repaint your warn winch drum and then reinstall it that can somehow cause total motor failure, unreal.

But sounds to me like a bad ground. Check for corrosion there. Put a volt meter on the positive lead, and see if you are getting 12v
