warn 8274-50 cable size question

what size/ diameter cable comes on the warn 8274?? I know it was 150' but not sure of size and I am about to order synthetic line for it

5/16" I believe (as a quick look at the Warn site would no doubt have revealed... )

the rated pull is 8,000 but some argue it can handle more so you may want to go a bit above that perhaps.

My 32-year-old 8274 had 5/16" braided steel wire line on it; replaced it with 100' of 3/8" synthetic. 125' of same would have fit on the drum easily.

fwiw, 125' of synthetic fit on my old 8274 easily, it would have taken more.

Yeah I agree, but where I wheel I rarely need long pulls and I'd rather pull with fewer winds on the drum. I do carry a winch line extension in the event I need a long line for a compound pull etc.

+1, that's where I got mine, and my extension line too. I like their safety thimble too.
