Wanting to get back in a LC

Finally got some time to snap some photos for y'all! I'm excited. First order of business is to plug the damn oil leak. There's actually oil puddling in spots on the engine! Valve cover gasket will be in at 8am. Pulled the 10 disc changer out this afternoon and disconnected the three random wires hooked into the fuse panel.

Anyone know where to start searching for constant brake lights when the headlights are on? I thought it was the trailer wiring that was cut with loose wires touching, but that didn't fix it. Looks like it's a Toyota trailer harness and good connections.

First thing you need to do is take that "damage multiplier" off the front. I'm sure you could sell it on CL.

Thanks guys! I think I'll be adding tires first. I had BFG ATs on the 62, but am thinking of going with the Nitto TGs 285/75/16 It's got 265/70 on the front and 275/70 on the rear which seems to measure out to different actual diameters and I'm worried about the viscous coupler

They were close enough that you should be OK

Be sure to see wct49 (Chris) for all your tire needs at 49 Tire in Richland, MS.

Preferably before the first of the year. (tire cost increase)

Thanks Cottonland for the sales pitch!

I would love to outfit that truck. I agree that the different diameter tires is not cool.

The tires will have to wait a bit. Money and time are at a premium right now! I did get the valve cover gasket replaced today. I did a light (2 can) engine degrease and with a short drive there was oil everywhere! The gasket was very hard and brittle compared to the new Toyota gasket.

What do y'all suggest on tires? I was thinking Nitto Terra Grapplers, but have been reading the Duratracs are pretty good on and off road?

Depends on what you want to do with the truck. BFG AT's are great mulit purpose tires. Nittos will wear fast. BFG KM2's seem to be the cats meow with this bunch. I just bought a set of Good Year MTR's (the cats meow for me). Better get the wallet ready whatever you choose!

That's what I'm working on! I just don't know how much driving I should do on these mismatched tires. I don't want to burn up the viscous coupler.

On another note, the weird brake light/parking light mystery is solved. Wrong bulb in the driver side tail light. I was just about to tear into the dash too! :steer:

LOL!
I was just showing a young member over here the differences in brake bulb lights last night... these 80's use a double filament bulb for braking duties and tail light duties.
It's a common bulb, but easily switched for the wrong one.

Lorena's brake light wasn't working but the taillight was and he was cornfused, saying it was the same bulb... I was like, yes, but not really.... I went and got a new one.

Good for you! That's huge for you.

nitto terra grappler have been a great all around tire for me.

i have gotten 40k miles on a set and they are about a 5/8 worn but mostly highway miles.

from what i have seen BFG AT is a very good tire and the Toyo open country AT.

but I Chris will get you a great deal on any tires..

I have seen toyo at's go over 75k and they do well offroad

but everything has at least a 10% increase from China brown outs and rubber costs are/will be going up all year long.
