Looking for a FJ43 thats been recently restored and brought to US level specs...larger water pump with heater and AC installed, Front disc Brakes, power steering, Seat belts ect ect... Has to be already Titled and in the US. Budget $25k-35k

Thank you!

Did they come in beige for the years and specs you want? I assume you want LHD?

Actually, your truck us US emissions exempt, but it is not Colorado emissions exempt. Local emissions laws aren't over ruled by the US exemption. Much the same reason why people can't usually get these trucks in California. If you keep it in the front range, you run the risk of eventually being told that you have to bring the truck into compliance for the model year. I think that risk is probably pretty small since you got your plate already. But it could be a huge pain in the neck one day when you go to due emissions for renewal, if someone hassles you.

At this time i’m not looking for a custom restored. My focus is something restorered in the last 5 years or so. I’m in no rush. I purchased a colombian 40 and had it restored to what i thought i wanted(my avatar) . It was a little small and I had no kids now I have 2 and a dog :):p:princess::cool::zilla:
That took 2 years. Yes AJ and I have been in touch. Thank you

Tony, I am afraid the FJ43 or the defender 90 might be little small for the 2 kids plus the dog. I would really think a FJ45 - FJ75 Troopy or a defender 110 is your best option because they have more space in the back for the kids and your equipment.. but maybe you wont like their longer looks?

I am sorry I have not emailed you, i just got back from Mexico.. If you are super serious about a defender 90 then i can introduce you the the Italian Shipping Agent in Genova. He exports 6 to 7 defenders a month towards the USA. The latest bridge accident in Genova could make it a little longer to do things but he is a total professional and incase you dont want to work with your existing agents here, then he can introduce you to others that he works with in the USA. He contacts the sellers and arranges with them in your behalf.. Believe it that most men in Italy dont speak english, so the agent will be helpful to you.. I will help you in any way possible if you decide to take this route.

As @mdkaboom mentioned the good thing about the defenders is that it has Aluminum body all around and the diesel engine could be a nightmare to Adjust. Its a good engine if all the timing is correct.. Most mechanics in the states have no clue how to work a 200tdi or 300tdi because these engines never were intended for the USA market. You will find tons of overseas youtube videos of how to repair them if you like to get your hands dirty. The Fjs engine is easier to work with.

I personally love the Cruisers more then the Defenders.. The negative thing about the defenders is it kept the same looks for the last 25 years, similar to G-class Mercedes. But the beauty about the Cruisers is that they always changed their looks. The cruisers had many body style changes in the past 25 years but the defender had the same look. its a bit boring..

Now maybe your change your mind and wanted to go towards a bigger car like a Troopy, I currently have a beige 1983 FJ45 Troopy and a white 1990 FJ75 Troopy which i have not yet posted for sale on the forum.. I will be more then happy to send you more information about the cars. Both cars are all original , LHDs and have air conditioning, power steering and complete front and rear seats, etc.. Titled in Montana.

To @FJ404345 , Cheers Eric. Hope you well.

Cheers Tony.

I’m on the front range. Since my 1981 43 was imported with the proper paper work my only emissions requirement is to pass a two stage idle sniff test every year which has not been difficult.
I do not have to comply with the emission standards for 1981 which require a smog pump and catalytic converter.
