I have 2 neighbors within a half mile who have 40's and are here on mud. If you count them that makes 15 listed on this thread.

I think there are only 3 of us in RI :( but it is good to see all the CT. cruiser heads pop up. anyone seen a 78' fj40 with a family cage on an ome lift? it was green I sold it to a kid in ct 6 years ago it had allumium diamond plate on the tub but really needed a new tub.
cruiser content I had Spence trim my rear quarter panels on my fj62 he did a awesome job. his welding skillz are great and he is very fair. and builds stuff right and sturdy.

If anyone gets tired of this thread in tech we wouldn't mind having it in the Yankee Toys club section. No need to be a member of YT..........it's a regional thing. ;)

Hope to meet some of you guys at the Fall Gathering.

RI is'nt really a State. I think they call it the armpit of the US, or something like that  Maybe we can consider you CT just for this thread. ;) Anyway if we include you guys thats 18+ Havent seen your cruiser, but I will keep my eyes open. SOMEBODY around here has a gorgeous white one with a hardtop. Have not been able to catch him yet.

I am surprised how many cruiserheads there are in ct!! Maybe there should be a ct pig club! I know about yankee toys, but strictly ct and RI since it only takes 5 minutes to drive through it:flipoff2:

there is a brownish cruiser that looks like it was just rebuilt for sale in Rockfall CT (my small ass town) it is a '78 and I only see it on this guys lawn on Sunday mornings... i havn't seen it posted for sale anywhere else and he wants 12k for it i think.

up the road from him is a green 40.. i think 75-77 range and i saw another greenish/rustish one in portland

and now that everyone in CT is reading this thread - i'm looking for a 73-79 frame (i think those are the years) that won't need a lot of work.. just a blasting and painting..

just thought i would throw it out there.

Wow, I did not know that. Nice to have a choice mid NE that isn't Metro LCs or Cruiser Solutions, though, Tedd does some of the best work out there!

Actually, not a bad idea. I just don't have time to take weekends off, but a Sunday afternoon? no problem. And it sure would save driving time.

This answers my question for an LC mechanic in the 60 forum.

I'm an Islander. Formerly a 74-40 owner, currently Cruiserless but considering a 60 purchase. I see a few 40's around. One really nice bronze/brown 40 passed me going the oppisite direction a week or so ago on Rt.2 in EG. I think I had an Exorcist moment when my head spun all the way around to check it out as it went by. Scared the carp out of my wife. :grinpimp:

Nice to know there are some LC heads near by.

Another Rhode Islander checking in... was cruiserless (well running anyway) for a few years before I got a donor 40 last May and made one rig from a 67 and a 76 over the winter. Heading up to the Fall Gathering today and am pumped to get it out on the trails... hope to see you there!

Actually, even though you do not see them much, there are quite a few cruiser owners in RI. Many of our customers do not wheel or daily drive their cruisers. In fact some of them do not even drive them in the rain in or snow.
I have tried to get them in to wheeling but most are worried about scratches and dents.

It would be nice to set up some trail runs with strictly ct cruisers!

I'd be interested in a CT 'cruiser drive. I'd like to FINALLY wheel my bone-stock (almost) truck. Where was this "Fall Gathering", and who/what is the organization or club?

Can anyone tell me where or how to access the Nepaug Reservoir trails in CT that Weedhopper mentioned?

I will get you specific directions by 8:00 tonite. I have been there once and was driven. My sons have been there many times.

OK I take that back. I will get you specific directions by mid morning Friday. It is off Rte 202 in New Hartford, but there is a very small access road that you can miss easily. I will take a quick run out there, it's close. It is one of the few legal places to go off road, it's not Colorado, but it can be a challenge. Last time I was out there was in the snow with the Xterra and that was kinda cool.

Great, Weedhopper. When you DO figure out access, maybe post it in a new thread to catch everyone's attention. Or post here, I'll look everywhere for it.

Directions To Nepaug

OK, Nepaug State Forest is on rte. 202 in New Hartford, CT. (Nepaug).

On a map the entrance is 2.4 miles East of rte. 219, on the North side. Coming from the West you drive thru Torrington center (on 202) thru a bunch of car dealers and Home Depot. Continue to rte. 219 intersection and it's 2.4 mi. after that.

From the East it is 2.7 mi. from the intersection of rts. 179, 44 and 202. Saybrook Fish House is the landmark . Yep, you guessed it ! It's on the North side of the road!

Keep your eyes open for a small blue oval sign that reads "Tunxis Trail"
There is also a brown sign that says " Nepaug, A Connecticut State Forest" There is a small gravel turnaround directly across from the entrance.

I went in this AM and looked around. There are some pretty good washouts in there and I did a good bottom job on the Xterra.
Have fun!
