Wait is over, got my wheels! Volk TE37x!

If you slide sideways into a curb in your ricerocket doing 85mph that will happen to your wheels every time. There are photos of Volks doing that too. And most of the flaming I've found on line against Rota (only did a little bit of searching) link those same two photos, and much of the flaming seems to be second hand, so I am suspicious, but it does still give me cause for concern.

What I would like to know is what people with the Rota's sized for forerunner and Tacoma have experienced because I'd like to think that those rims are built a bit stronger than what they build forricerockets.

I ran Rotas on my Spec Miata. Bounced off a wall once, other cars lots of times, wheel got marred pretty bad but the SOB was still turning true, got another season out of it before selling them with the car.

I hope you guys realize I was kidding... Hence the :flipoff2:

I used to build/race VW's. Back in the day, the show wheels were BBS and race wheels were Rotas. The BBS's were too soft and expensive to race with! :steer:

Heck, we are about ready to buy some Rota RB's for my wife's Mini. (Not our car, but this will give an idea for the visual people among us.)

After the long wait, my wheels finally arrived :). I've had them for over a month, but been busy at the shop so I did't get to put them on til last week. If you've never heard of Volk / Rays Engineering, they're a high quality wheel manufacturer based out of Japan. These wheels are manufactured using a flow form forging process. Result is a strong and lightweight wheel, but it comes at a slight premium .

Specs: 16x8 0-offset, Tires BFG AT KO 315/75/16
I knew this is a aggressive offset for 100 series, but gambled and it looks like it should clear the rear fenderwell under compression. I did a quick check with some poser shots in the back alley.

Here are some pics:

With my factory 18" on 305/60/18 Nitto TG's
the inside edge of the tire would rub the inner rear fender under full compression.

thanks for lookin..

Hi there. I know this thread is older. I had a quick question. I am thinking of doing the exact same thing. Any word of caution? Any problems with things breaking due to larger wheels? Rubbing while on road driving? How far did your tires stick outside the body fenders? Thanks in advance. So sorry to ask so many questions. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger and getting nervous. Doing a sensor lift, regearing to 4.88, and getting some non-custom wheels with 0 offset or wheel spacers.

Really like the color! It's nice to see something other than black, gray (natural) or chrome.

The wheels & tires look great!!

Hey, great looking rig!! I've been considering these for my 4th gen t4r, mostly cause they are the only wheel that's lighter than the stock wheels.
Did you notice any difference in performance after putting them on? Anything that would justify the rather expensive price of entry?

I know this is an old thread, but do you guys think a 17x8.5 0 offset will fit with no rubbing with 285/70/17’s?

Looks like he was ok with his 16x8 0 offset 315/75/16

Thanks
