I have been checking the site religously, but haven't got lucky enough to snag one yet :-(

I'm very much in the same boat on both a tailgate and gullwing window.

I really like that aluminum one the idea of the tape measure on it is so handy

I would be afraid the aluminum one would scar up real easy........

I recommend the cutting board style. You can custom order the board and they cost $34. I have mine just haven't installed yet..

can u elaborate on this a little ?, I don't know if I have the means to lay it out and drill the holes all professional but I might try and just put some marine hatches in it so I don't have to fab up a hinge and perfect cut door........

In retrospect I may have spoken out of turn. I have been contemplating going the storage route but for now am simply using the cutting board material to replace the carpet - it's more water-resistant, and I can cut food on it. I believe you could add hinges and make a storage option out of it, but cannot confirm. Will definitely post back if I go through with that..

This my basic plan. Add a piano hinge and some similar handles as the wagongear, perhaps a backing piece of steel welded inside the tailgate as a frame and the cutting board cut to match the carpet shape. I was bummed when the wagongear went out of production and have so far gathered my parts but not devoted the time to fix it yet.

ok, so where do you find this cutting board stuff in a big enough piece to replace the carpet? inquiring minds want to know ;-)

He made at least one a few months ago. I've been in contact with Kevin and he tells me he will make them again...

yea, one forum member posted that he signed on and got one a while back, and the site says he's making them, I just haven't been able to get one yet  oh well, I am waiting on the pricing for the AJIK rear tire carrier, and I need sliders too........

mine came to about $48 but that was with some fancy corners. Dimensions fit my tailgate perfectly. dims were 53" x 15"

HTH

your second post says "standard" corners, while this first post says "fancy" corners....I looked on the website but didn't see a terminology for the corners, though the pic shows them rounded, would that rounded be the "standard' do you think?

thanks, I might just try to make me something this fall, after boating season is over and I get my weekends back:)

LABRAK makes a cutting board that fits the tailgate perfectly, but its a couple hundred bucks.
WAGONGEAR should be back up and running. I was in touch with Kevin via e-mail for a while. When he was ready to make them he let me know and I snagged one up. That was a few months ago....

found this while googling marine hatches: http://www.boatoutfitters.com/build...8XYp-OxaXruG0goNIPLfshbCpP869I7ofOhoCeHvw_wcB

now the website only lets you estimate cost up to 30x30 and with 1 stainless latch it comes in at $273.00 but if you put in the dimensions listed by hamishpotter it gives a pop up saying please call for custom quote but that's not bad if the price doesn't double up for the longer 53" dimension compared to wagongears $545 and almost unobtainium status............ says predrilled so maybe they can forgo drilling or just drill matching holes in the tailgate when installing?

I went ahead and called, but forgot to ask about the predrilled mounting holes, but a 15x53 hatch door with a bulb seal and 2 SS latches [due to width, with 1 locking/one non locking] and the whole hatch in black starboard was $333.41 .......not too bad I guess

regarding my order I meddled with the corner type and beveling, thinking it might make sense, but after seeing the board it doesn't really matter. I'd maybe round the edges or bevel, but unnecessary, plus two corners will be trimmed either way..
