Ladies and gents, wheelers and dealers of the For Sale section, I am in serious need of a replacement body, there are lots of things available. but to be honest I don't have the time to religiously keep an eye on craigslist and the For Sale section here is way out of grasp. :p

SO, if anyone has a line on some clean 60 series sheet metal pretty much anywhere on the west coast, let me know.
All I need is the sheet metal, but I need ALL of it, and the only requirement is that it be rust-free. It can have dents and bruises, not looking for beauty here, but I need it to be solid.
I've got a great chassis with good mechanicals, and a lovely diesel but my body is officially gone.
I'll post some pictures so that maybe you can take pity on us.

Thanks for looking.

Kevin,

Its Elvin. I have a 60 body that has lots of bruises but I think the frame was fine. It is rusty for the west coast but pristine compared to yours. I dont really know how much rust it has. I bought it to take the drivetrain out. It is without axles/engine.... but in Corvallis and FREE.
You should pop up here and we can have a drink and you can look at it disapprovingly. PM me if you want to take a look at it. It is stored across town or I would send you some pics right now.

I hope you tried using some spray expanding foam, some JB weld and perhaps a little rattle can paint before you started looking for a new body?
Yup, yup and yup. :p
Been there, done all that.

Hey Elvin, would love to stop by, I'll let you know next time I make a run up that way. The frame I have is actually good, that was "new" about 8 years ago along with a body, it was sandblasted and painted at the time and has held up ok, it's the body that is just gone now.
Dented and bruised is fine with me..... the rust would be the only thing to look at, I'll figure out my schedule and see if you are around.

I've finally given in and decided to swap out my body just like you said. When do you intend to have yours done by?

Why? Do you want to race or something. :D
All depends on what I end up with and what it needs.

Good call though johnny, I'll have to send you some pics of the best bits of mine, I milked it along for quite awhile, but its actually worse than what you are dealing with.
Do you want me to find you a body as well and bring it back when we drive back to visit?
I'll make you a good deal! :p

Yeah, lets:grinpimp: Mine will be done before Christmas!

I've already found a body in real good shape. Going to cut the quarters and rockers, then extend the rear wheel well so I can move the rear axle back a couple of inches when I put chevy springs on.

I saw a couple of pictures you posted in this thread, but I'm always looking for more! You did go to quite the extreme in cutting out the entire front floor to get rid of rust:lol:

Are you going to modify the new body at all before putting it on or are you going to keep it pretty stock?

That's great, it is still going to be white?
Actually strike that, is all this over in the Moonshine thread? I'll just go check in there, haven't looked in awhile.

It sounds like you are going to beat me to it though, I'll most likely delay till after winter solstice celebrations are completed.
Not going to do much to the body, will depend a bit on what we get. Probably will do the rocker swap and trim the 1/4s. I'll cut the underseat boxes out of my truck and weld them in the new one, but I built them with that in mind.
The big thing will be whether I have to paint or not, I hate painting, would ideally like to find a cruiser with a good paint job and just use that, but it's not looking like it will be the case.
Once I get things lined up I'll make a separate swap thread.

I'm still proud of that "Ugliest Wheeler" award:cool:

Yeah, it's all in my Moonshine thread. She will be white with black bedliner along the lower body line.

Now, when you cut the boxes out from under your truck, do you intend to keep just the boxes or the entire console section as well? How will the boxes work with the factory sheetmetal? I'd love to make a set of underseat boxes for my rig as well. I need to get a welder so I can get on it.

I'll keep my eyes open for your swap thread! Good luck finding a body, shouldn't be that difficult out west.
