nope, this is the wife's rig. tell you the truth, i like my early cruisers better. my dd is an 84 hj47, for now anyways.
rubithon, not for this rig. but i have something else in the works for that. the 80 will be hitting the dunes at SNT FO SHO!!!!!!!

i spent a year and a half finding my troopie. and i worked my ass off saving up the money to buy it. afaic, i earned it!
the 80 really is my wife's, she drives it daily.rubithon, wait and see. but it's white.

good to see you on here. i will post pics when i finish the console; shift indicator and tcase linkage plus boot. i guess i should post a pic of what it looks like now. it's ugly.
That's cool. I have been impressed with the Vortec's power in my Dad's Tahoe and my neighbors Yukon. How does your mileage compare?

Hey... I have a 86 FJ60 that I've swapped a 99 5.7 Vortec into.. very similar to what you have on this 80swap.
What did you do to get teh A/C lines to work (ie mate teh GM compressor to the yota condensor and evap core)..
I need to get my AC working...
Be glad to carry converstaion off-line if needed. I will use a new GM compressor. If you have a source or more info on making one...I'm interested or would be glad to discuss details.

So far I've only driven it enough to run the tank down once. Been driving it pretty hard and got 13mpg. I bet it'll get 15 or so. We'll find out soon.....

wonder if you might post up some pics showing the ends of the compressor hose....where it mates to the evap core fitting and the accumulator ( I know its not called teh accumulator on the toyota, can't think of hte name "dryer"..).

here ya go. i just took these pics and found another leak in the system. when i got the 80, the shrader valve itself was leaking; common issue. so we replaced it and now one of the orings where the hoses attach to the comressor is leaking. no biggie, should have it fixed tomorrow.

btw, when we rebuilt the knuckles and upgraded the brakes i also installed a set of aisinlocking hubs from an fj62. so now it's 2wd when the hubs are unlocked. that outta get me a little better fuel economy as well. now i just need to learn to keep my foot out of it. 
I will give you $4000 right now! that will be a screaming deal as well!

Swapping the 5.7 vortec has been the best mod I've done to my truck , bar none...also very challenging
Still working on misc things here and there. Getting the A/C to work is on the top of the list right now.

the ac works great. when we got it the systme was not blowing any cold air. so i took it to a shop right around the corner. they diagnose and charge all the ac systems for me. turns out the o-rings on the compressor were cracked. got a couple new ones from the dealer and for a total of $50 i've got icy cool air blowing at me. well, my wife does anyways.
there's still a lot of little stuff to fix/finish on the rig. i just got a new tre from the dealer, will be installing it this thursday.
i also need to get some slee caster bushings and pan-hard bar bushings. there's not quite enough caster right now and the front end feels a little loose. so i'll slowly work my way thru it.
gotta finish the t-case shift linkage as well, have some good ideas for it.
meanwhile the passneger mirror just about fell off, looks like the previous owner super glued it back together at one point. so that's on the list.
aside from that, it's been running great. passed smog with no issues and hauls ass. good times.
