What's been the lifespan of your AA mounts? I thought about buying an extra set or two.

I think I read in one of Manuchao's posts where he was using hockey pucks for his mounts.:hmm: i like his thinking out of the box. Also makes me Laugh:D

I think Frank (Manuchao) is referring to the AA mounts as hockey pucks. I don't think he is actually using hockey pucks, I could be wrong though. Maybe he got tired of the AA mounts and tossed hockey pucks in there!? :)

Both my v8 Cruisers already had the engine conversion when I got them but in both trucks mounts were toast in under a year after getting the trucks. So far I just have replaced the old shot ones with new AA mounts.

I would think the poly may crack and split easier than rubber. Poly is used in a lot of aftermarket mounts though. I am curious because it is a little easier to use poly bushings over the Chevy leaf spring bushings. Much easier to replace when they do wear out. The Chevy bushes are pressed in. Have the Chevy bushes as trans mounts in a rock crawler I have, no issues.

Cheers

Correcto Mondo.. AA mounts suck....
Not my first choice, but hockey pucks are made of vulcanized rubber and isolate engine vibes really good....!!!
Going strong in three years with HABS logos, and no sign of wearing out.....

Daytonadogie...
superb job you are doing on this transplant...
wish I would of kept my OME engine mounts....
oh well..... next time...

Manuchao, your 60 build thread was the first one I read (over and over!). Thanks for documenting your builds, it makes it a lot easier for us copy cats to pull off these swaps.

dude this is one thing I've been waiting for. I'm really looking forward to the whole thing being done I wish I could lend a hand as well. but a quick question do you have an idea how much your into for this project $

Here's a few updates:

Here's a pic of the H N L shifter bracket mod to get the lever in the stock location

.

This was just tacked together for a trial fit before I finished the weld and paint.

I'm going to hook up all of the smog systems, so I borrowed a trick from one of Georg's threads and added a GM fuel level sender to the stock toyota one. I guess the PCM needs that signal for the evap system to work.

Right now I'm working on fuel lines and exhaust. I've got the cats tacked into place, but it's a real tight fit on the right side to clear the driveshaft. I'm using the cats from the donor vehicle, and hoping that they are ok. Anyone know if there is a way to test them before installing them? Visually they look fine, inside and out.

2010 LS3 Camaro exhaust manifolds

This area of the engine bay was real busy, with fuel lines, brake lines, trans cooler lines, transfer case vacuum lines, heater lines all merging at the same place. When I installed the manifold and exhaust, I tried to be real careful to move and reroute everything to give the cat as much room as possible. Note the stock fuel filter.

Got the Exhaust flanges off of eBay from some place called Yoshifab. With a name like that they can't be all bad!

i plan on using the stock 62 fuel pump. if you have any thoughts on this, good or bad, please chime in on this. There doesn't seem to be much information on this, and if it works, i can't figure out why it hasn't been done more often. Will simplify things if it does work. if it doesn't, i'll drop the tank and put a different pump inside it.

I stole MarkN's idea for spacers on the crossmember.

Went to the U Pickum junk yard and grabbed a few things. Charcoal canisters and evap vent valve

Found some vacuum solenoid valves off a '90s Toy PU that should work if the Tcase ones go bad on my 62.

Still lots to do

whats the fuel pressure rating on the stock fuel pump? GM engines are real sensitive to the fuel pressure...even if off the mark by just a little bit make them run like crap. I believe some run the supra fuel pump or the GM pump...and or matching FM fuel filter or aftermarket.

I have been using the stock fj62 fuel pump for over 17000 miles with no issues. I researched the flow and pressure ratings, they were good, don't remember the particulars... i am getting old i guess.

So, your crossmember stays on the same spot and allows you to run the stock driveshafts? That's pretty cool for the FJ62 owners.

It seems weird (on AA's part) that you'd have to modify the t-case shifter lever mount. It seems like they could have made that work if the t-case is in the same spot.

I *think* I remember reading that the 62 pump works except during sustained full throttle periods, like bombing up an interstate mountain pass, and then there was a lean condition code because the flow wasn't quite there.

But if Mark hasn't had a problem, who knows. There's only one way to really find out. That would sweet if it works as is.

Thanks MarkN, thats what I wanted to hear. I think i'll be ok then. For some reason, the L59 has different injectors and run at a lower pressure anyway, so I should have a little wiggle room there too. Even if this pump works, I eventually plan on replacing it with a new pump. This one is probably 25 years old!

Cam, the 62 crossmember worked in the same position, just had to shim it down. i had to reposition the mount as far forward as I could to get the drive shafts to work. I think that the 62's are an easier swap than the 60's, just from what I have read in other threads.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Finally got the exhaust cut, fit and welded. I crawled under the truck at least 1000 times getting this done. Should get it hung for good today.

Flowmaster Super 50 muffler.

Purty! Is that ceramic coated?

Can't wait to see the install pic. I had intended to crossover right after the cat like that, but couldn't seem to find the room. Looks like you must have though.

Excellent choice in muffler. Not loud, but not too quiet.

Nah, just header paint. What muffler are you running with?

Same thing, the 50. I get a drone here and there, but that could just be due to my fairly rigid mounts, my tailpipe exit location, and possibly some intake noise. It is quiet on the interstate.

It's actually louder than I expected at idle and quieter than expected under load. It's like it just has one volume :D

Great minds think alikeo_O! I was worried about drone but a little bit like your describing should be fine. I've had good luck with Flowmaster mufflers in the past.

Got the exhaust installed .

The crossover Pipe does hang down farther than I'd like but it's still higher than the cross member. This is going to be more of a camping/fishing rig, so I hope it won't be a issue.
