I bought my 40 with a vintage air unit already installed. I think I found out why the heat didn't work so well. It appears it was never hooked up. At first I just thought it was because the hose is kinked, but then I realized the hose just connects the bottom pipe to the top pipe. It doesn't connect to the Vintage air unit at all. Can someone tell me if I'm just not seeing things right.

And please post some pictures of your connections including how you kept the rear heat, if you did. I have pulled the whole unit out to rework the vehicle wiring. But when I put it all back together, I want to add a rear heater.

Sorry for the hi jack---

Are these units effective?---- my mufflers are under the front seats - unless it's a cool day, I'm dripping sweat--- figured the only relief would be to remove the top for summer.

Your heater is not hooked up currently. It's just looped around. The Vintage Air heater core inlet and outlet are located near where the AC lines enter the evaporator on the passenger side, just behind the firewall. There should be a plate of some sort that's covering the hole where the original blower fan used to be. Your heater core is located behind that plate.

In order to run rear heat, you'll have to custom make some T - fittings to supply the rear heater. The VA unit is not set up to work with the rear heater from the factory.
