Hi everyone,
I recently purchased my first land cruiser:cool: and now looking at air condition & heating options. I am looking at the vintage air kits and it seems like the bracket for the condenser will only fit FJ models, not my HJ45 diesel. Does anyone know of any places in the gulf south(I live in New Orleans) that could fabricate that part?:wrench: Are there any shops that someone could recommend in MS, LA, TX, or AL that specializes in cruisers? I also would like to get my steering looked at by someone who knows what they are dealing with, as it is has alot of wander:steer:. Thanks for any help in advance:cheers:

welcome to the disease:D it`s too late to turn back now :)

as for HVAC on a HJ is going 2B a bit of a challenge to my knowledge nobody makes a kit but am sure it can be cobbled to a well functioning unit. do a lot of finger walking on the net most esp; down under sure there are a few options that you can choose from.

again welcome:cheers:

For your steering, you can bring it to Northshore Toyota. LJ is a technician there who is pretty good with the older 40's and 60's. He may be able to give you some ideas on how to do the a/c. But if you want a proven Land Cruiser shop, ACC would be the place to go.

Unfortunately the only option that I know of for AC on a Toyota diesel is factory parts. You can use all the parts from the "kit" bit you will have to source OEM compressor and mount. Then you will need custom AC hoses but that isn't difficult.

This is your guy! Michael knows his stuff and does first class work. Post in the diesel parts section for the parts you need and once you secure them you can drop that beautiful rig over at ACC and wait for the magic.

BTW - we need a pic or two to salivate over...

Mud goodness.

Thanks for all the info! Im going to contact LJ soon about the steering, and do some more research on the a/c. I am considering doing it myself.:hhmm: Its starting to get "cold" in New Orleans now so I am not in as big of a rush for the a/c. Here is a pic right after i got her, there will be more after I have time to clean her.

Damn! That's nice. Where did you get her? I haven't seen it around town. You keep her all locked up? LOL

As for contacting LJ, he is one of the service techs. Call and talk to Charles. He is one of the service managers and he is a LLK member. He can get you all set up. ;)
