All, I recently purchased a '92 BJ73, Spanish version. In order to transfer the title from Washington state to my state, a VIN inspection is required (for out of state title transfers). Is there another VIN location besides the firewall, e.g., somewhere on the frame?

Thanks.

The firewall tag is present, but I need a second location that has the VIN info.

Thanks.

When I registered my HZJ73 in MA, the engine compartment badge where coldtaco mentioned was all I needed. Your frame # is the VIN. What else are you looking for?

Sorry, I may not have been clear in my original posting. My state, New Mexico, requires that for vehicles that are being titled from another state undergo a VIN inspection. The VIN info must be present in two locations for verification purposes. The firewall tag being one location. I need to find another location on this vehicle that has the VIN info. For example, many U.S. vehicles have the VIN tag on the interior door post and on the dash near the windshield, so there are two locations showing the VIN. I have the VIN tag on the firewall, but I need to find another location showing the VIN info. Might it be stamped on the frame somewhere?

Thanks.

The frame # should also be stamped on the frame, yes. I know it's on the outward-facing surface somewhere, but I forget exactly where. Check your wheel wells, it should be visible if your 73 is clean :)

Update: mine is a RHD, and the frame # is stamped on the drivers-side front wheel well on the frame.

Right frame rail, outer vertical surface, just aft of the front axle housing.

Welcome to therapy group. Good luck on transferring the title.
May we ask for some pics?
Best regards Ralf
