that looks like a sweet swingout...

i started building something like this.... its going to swing down so you can pick the tire up off the ground instead of at chest height...

I've seen a bumper exactly like that on a jeep in ottawa... was the best part of the truck... and a clever idea!

I got 80% of the way through building a swing down bumper about ten years ago...

promptly wrenched my back lifting the tire, and scrapped the idea...trouble is you have to lift the tire every time you want to get into the back of the truck, with a swing out, it's only when you actually need the tire...

which equates to too much tire lifting for me.

and yeah, I thought that one I posted was a cool bumper design

I was thinking of doing a dual swing out setup... fuel tanks and tire... but now I'm thinking... I did some work with a company before that designed weather proof linear actuators.... I bet I could make the tire pick itself up....

The tire is mounted to a swing out tailgate. Also a water can and a high lift jack. I still need to finish up the weatherstripping so that it's watertight, but I'm happy with how it works.

wanted a stock fj40 rim with clips so hubcap can be installed.
I will be hanging my spare tire holder soon so will be in need of rim soon. Tire on it is okay....Enjoyed driving my bj42 around Cortes Island all summer,, had lots of people come up to me with a story or 2 of ones they owned or had ridden in....hopefully picture will show...thanks.

so got a weird one for ya, I went to look at some tires a guy had advertized a while back, didn't buy them , however, while walking out to the truck the tires were on, there was a stock 40 rim with hubcap clips sitting on his junk pile.

I can probably find his number if you're still looking. it was south nanaimo

on a similar note, the rim fairy dropped off 5 of those in my driveway today..

now to find some skinnies for them so I can ditch those gay ass wide mtr's...

Is it the later style tubular carrier? if so I would be interested.

I have an 81 bj42 cowl/firewall/dash sitting in the driveway that I'd like to see dissappear and have a case of beer materialize in it's place...

failing that, it goes to the recycler with the rest of the green 42 parts...
