Has anyone ever ran into this issue or even heard of this issue before. I’ve spoken to many experienced Toyota mechanics and they have never seen it before. Today I was doing my swivel hubs and as I was installing a new inner oil seal I noticed something round sitting in the axle housing. Turned out it was the outer oil baffle that had somehow mysteriously fallen out of its seat. I had to remove the diff centre and very carefully knock it back into place. It was very bizarre I don’t quite know how it was possible but nevertheless it happened.

Yup got an 80-series on the lift right now where those ended up in the diff and got chewed to dust.

It’s a part you can’t buy too for the front axle. Jamming your shaft in there to hard I suppose can knock it out of place. I have never done that though in many years of working on Cruisers.

Cheers
