Putting the keepers on my very last valve last night and one of them "took flight". One second it was there and the next, it was not, didn't even make a sound when it landed. Just spent some time tonight scouring the garage, and nothing. This my first attempt at doing my own head work, and it's gone fine, and I was even aware this could happen, it's just kind of discouraging. Thought I would post this so we could all have a laugh, but now I'm actually wondering if some kind soul here on Mud might drop one in an envelope and send it to me?

Damn the luck! The sooner you buy another one the sooner you will find the temporarily misplaced one. It's Murphy's Lawton know? Sorry but I need all of my valve keepers to stay right where they are. Good luck with this. I'm sure getting ahold one won't be too difficult.

Last time I lost one and it didn't make a sound I found when I finally drained the oil on a hunch.

I don't have one for you but a local machine shop probably does. I did the same thing with a Jeep, and the place I use for machine work had one for a buck......

Last time I lost one and it didn't make a sound I found when I finally drained the oil on a hunch. Found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you were the inspiration. Thinking of your comment as I went back to the garage, I thought if his couldn't fly out, it had to go down. I'd already looked over the head, I thought pretty well, but I pulled that spring, and bingo, can't believe I missed it before . Thanks for your helpful reply.

Right on! Glad you found it
