Valve cover gasket

starting to do my valve cover gasket, I noticed my valve cover gasket has an indentation in the center all the way around. Looking on the valve cover seat it is raised in the center. Is there a special gasket for that type or is this created from the pressure of tightening down the valve cover?

So I'm guessing it doesn't need any gasket sealant?

I put a few dabs of black 3M weatherstrip adhesive in the cover groove just to keep the gasket from falling off when I place it on the motor.
