You can also vacuum seal things that you want to store. Had a bunch of baby bottles that were going to get put away, cleaned and sterilized them, then vac sealed 'em and into the closet they went.

I also vac sealed some of my emergency kit. Prevents me (or others) from poaching from it, and compacts it a ton.
 
I vac seal soups (I usually cook a gallon at a time) and don't have any trouble with mine. Some soup gets in the drip tray which is annoying, but not a deal breaker.

I've thought about opening it up and installing a momentary switch that will trigger the seal cycle. That'd be money.....

Freeze the soup first in a square / rect container , easy to vac and saves space in the freezer .

It's not that difficult to seal it without freezing it first.

Back in the day we sealed 35mm film, anybody use film cameras anymore?
