Beer Money

BK,

It might be worth the trip just to get some beer money from you. How about another keg like you did at CMCC?

Steering, who needs steering when you've got a perfectly good ratchet strap?

jcj, yeah that's the Sheetz I've got in mind.

I'll call the forest service tomorrow to check on any trail closings.

Rick, that sucks about the cap. I'll see if anyone I know has a spare.

I have a few more things to do before I can wheel....I need to finish my steering and brakes on the truck - AND - the wife said no more wheeling until the cabinents are in at the cabin.

Anyone driving near Haymarket, VA on the way down? I have a bumper I need to have picked up - I'll pay your gas + beer money (no Mr. Bascom - I don't think I can pay all your beer money, just some of it) :grinpimp:

I drive between H-burg and Chantilly at least three days a week. I imagine that i can fit a bumper in the back of the Lumina. Shoot me a e-mail thru the forum or call my cell 540-250-2113 let me know.

As far as the trail ride I'm gonna have to opt-out again I'm about 2/3 done with paint and the truck is in a few hundred pieces AGAIN. Cold weather is a bitch for painting btw. (and no garage)
It ALSO happens to be December graduation and an old roomate from Radford is graduating...so... I dont think ill be in any shape to walk much less drive until sunday after noon.

Be safe, weather seems to be nasty thru friday afternoon and looks like its gonna be a cold one!

Peace

About a year ago they closed most of Kephart, which was one of the best trails still open.

Second Mountain is sometimes closed at the gate at the bottom because of trail access disputes with the local residents, but it can be accessed from the top where it meets with Dictum, Gauley Ridge, etc.

From what I've seen lately, everything else should be open.

I have a bunch of stuff to do this weekend, otherwise I'd head down for the day.

BK,

If you're bringing a keg to GSMTR, you (really the keg) is more than welcome to camp with us at Overflow.

I'd be interested, too, but have the same mix of issues with work, cruiser and home -- brakes, steering, axle oil seal, fluids and tune up all on my short list. Shopping and parties after that.

Have fun and take some good pics!

Sorry to hijack...........what are the closest trails to NoVA??? I grew up in Great Falls and the closest place I knew of was GWNF. Is there anything closer???

I am not going to make it. I have not had a chanve to change my fluids, the wife wants the kitchn repainted and I am going to start working on one of my motorcycles.

PErhaps in Feb. for me. My son will be born January 16th, so I will be busy for a minute

Hey Burl! Did you ever get the pix developed from my ummmm.... mishap on "schoolbus" a couple GSMTR's ago?

If anyone from the D.C. area gets the day off or something, meet me at the Wendy's off 66 in Manassas at 7:30 a.m. My cell is 240-997-9244.

Pics

Thanks again, Charlton. I had a great time!

For those that missed out, he and I (along with a couple friends from the clcc) first went in the back end of Salt Shed where we ran into a group from the Shenandoah Valley 4 Wheelers club. We decided to tag along with them as they went up Second Mountain and came down Old Long Run. Beautiful scenery, and the snow and ice made it interesting.

Then the 2 of us went back to Salt Shed to run the majority of the trail that we'd skipped earlier. The water crossings didn't seem nearly as deep as the pics I saw, but the layers of ice over some of the mud holes gave us some trouble.

Once again, my camera sucks. So hopefully the others will post some better pictures.
