However, there are a number FR on the North side of 33 that I have not run. Possibilities are open. .

Second Mountain is an okay trail, if the gate is open. Being hunting season, it probably is. Turn right onto Second Mountain Rd when you're heading west on Rt. 33, go through a small group of houses/cabins/shacks, up a relatively steep hill, and the road will run right into the trailhead (where the gate is).

Also, on that same side of Rt. 33 is Dictum Ridge. The turn onto Dictum looks like you're pulling into a driveway, but right after you turn off of Rt. 33 the trail heads up hill to the left. The bottom portion of this trail is probably the hardest spot in all of GWNF. There's a rock ledge that can be a difficult climb. Here's my old Heep coming down it:

Have fun.

I second salt shed.
And lets not make the same mistake we did last time with dictum, trying to turn around up there was a pain.

Ill do anything. I am all armored up so I will go anywhere yall want to. Also cause I don't know the trails there at all. :D

yeah going down wouldnt be too bad. But im pretty sure us long wheel base guys would still probably get a little rocker panel damage.

Yeah, coming down it is nothing. Some kid in a stock Grand Cherokee was out there by himself and somehow showed up at the back of our group. We spotted him down it without any trouble, but the undercarriage definitely made some noise coming across that rock.

I feel like an idiot. I went up the road on Second MT, just not all the way. I turned around--DOH.

I would like to hit Dictum. It looks fun. Plus, I have sliders and full skids. I picked up a Gazetteer and it looks like Dictum runs North into some other FRs.

I am packing my truck tomorrow and leaving Saturday am by 7-730

Exams?? eff that. I've ran a bunch of those trails up there. I live like 30 min away. We should run salt shed (it would prolly be fun with all the recent rain), Dictums has a pretty challenging part but i think most of us would definitely need sliders (unless you dont mind body damage). Second mountain used to be sweet, but then they bull-dozed everything over and filled it in, there are still some steep hill climbs, and tanktraps here and there. Whatever you guys feel like running.

Are you joining us on Sat??

I hope so, you can help show the way....

Yeah i think I will be meeting you guys at the shell station. I dont have any armor though but i dont think i would mind a little damage as long as my doors still close.

This is turning out to be a nice Toyota run. I can't wait.
I am prepping my truck today so all I have to do is jump in it in the am.

see you all in the am

Same here. I need to clean off all of the heavy mud off from yesterday muddin and I need to try and get my winched fixed. Should we pack lunches?

Yes. Clean your junk. I would pacl a luhch, some snacks and drinks. I like to be comforttable when out in the middle of nowhere. I am bringing a smaller cooler with me.

Damn! I wish I could make it. Hope you guys have fun.

If any of you guys want to go back shortly thereafter, I'm gonna try to get down to some trails two weeks from this Saturday. Maybe GWNF, or Devil's Ditch if I can get my sliders on by then.

I am going to Crozet next weekend--they have an open weekend.

That ledge on Dictum Ridge has given many trucks problems. It dosen't take much to get the back end hopping a bit trying to get up and then go over. Check out my post on YotaTech about a guy who rolled his SASed Xterra on Dictim:

That would be me :D . Yeah, it's sort of a blur memory in my head now. I am up for this trip. What time you guys are planning to meet. I can't remeber the exact direction, can some one get the direction to me?

Thanks

the shell gas station on 33. past the town square. It is right after the closed up Food Lion on the right as you head towards GWNF at 9:30. I believe.

33 east or west? I am coming from MD. Is 33 off of 81 north or south. I can't find my GWNF direction cheat sheet.
