Will the Taco diff I have fit into ffYoya's truck?

IF YOU WANT, ffYota... Pay the shipping two and fro, and I'll loan it to you... I have NO IDEA how much it would be... And it's not you'd be missing something or have something of great value... They're pretty much useless diffs.

This one?......

Nope

Ok, NOW I think I get it...

I thought the Tacoma's were the same as the Mini's... It's the TRD, ONLY, right?

My knowledge of Toyota trucks almost abruptly stops at 1994 :D

The only 96+ Toyota diffs that will fit into a 79-95 housing are the Taco/4Runner E-locker diff, and the FZJ80 front "high pinion" diffs, locked or open. Nothing else.

To check the gear ratio at the yard, jack up one tire, turn that tire 2 full revolutions and count the revolutions on the pinion.

It is a 97 4runner I don't think its a elocker, from pics on the net of a elocker it seem as though it would be very obviuos and this 97 runner looks just like the V6 pics I find ,,
So it should fit right??

I think im goin to go back over there today and check it out with some tools, a 6 pack :hillbilly:

If it's a 97 4Runner, and it's not an Elocker (will have a motor on the side of the diff) then it will not fit.

OK will a need to find a better junk yard the one in Daytona does not have much there I seen a BIG yard in Jax i'll have to make a trip up there sometime with tools and a 6 pack lol

This is a copy and paste from Erik's Toyota Differential info

''86-95 4cyl Turbo and V6* trucks and 4runners, and ALL '96+ 4Runners use the Toyota 8" 4-pinion differential in the rear. This diff is known as the "V6/Turbo diff."

I'll take some measurements If I get to the yard today

I've got an idea....

All he has to do is see if it takes a 8 or 10mm wrench to unbolt the diff from the housing...

If it's 8mm it'll fit his. If it's 10, no way Jose...

Right?

EDIT: I just went out to see if my Taco rear was the same. I have a Mini diff RIGHT NEXT TO IT, and they look the same! Upon closer inspection, they will NOT interchange.

i.e do not go by looks alone!
