Looking for a US spec 1979-1983 FJ40 with original 2f engine.

A comparable US spec 79 or 80 will generally be a little less than an 81 or an 82. The 1983 FJ40 could be twice the price depending on condition due to it's rarity. A nice stock 83 recently sold for $120K. It was not restored. It may help us help you if you can provide your budget, assume you have one.

Hard to beat less than 5,000 original miles and from the LC museum

You should be able to find a nice cruiser for 45k. Very minimal rust and original paint. I have never seen an 79+ without a little rust in the rear quarter panels.
