Had some fun off-roading this weekend with some friends. Did a medium-hard rated Piepkorn Loop in Anza Borrego with buddies that had various vehicles including an Xterra on 32, my LX570 on 33s, lifted titan on 35s, and everything thrown at it Raptor on 37s.

Here was one video that really captures some articulation and traction control capabilities of the various rigs. Things always look tame on video but the climb was rutted out.

We had a huge group of off-road virgin guys. When we set out, they thought I was crazy to bring my Lexus/SUV along, given how rough and tough the other rigs looked. This same scenario played out again and again with the Lexus effortlessly walking through every obstacle on its first try that had the other rigs trying multiple times for various reasons. Raptor turned around at the Piepkorn pinch as he was unwilling to sustain potential damage. At the end of the day, at least in this group, the LX unanimously was the preferred vehicle for potential zombie apocalypses.

Well, the Nissans need lockers, for sure.

This is awesome.

I did a driving course at a local rally this summer with some Team Land Rover instructors. I asked them to put me on a line to get a wheel in the air and they couldn’t do it. #flexus.

This is so cool. That’s for sharing the video.

You can see a-trac working there rather than spinning the front driver.

Always nice to be able to off-road the company Raptor lol

Nice video. The Nissans both suffered from poor line selection as well. You turned right to keep your right tire up on that center hump more than either of the Nissans. I've taken a 2 wheel drive rental Rav 4 on most of the Sedona Pink Jeep tour routes with good line selection and a small amount of rock stacking.

I showed this to the guys at work, particularly the few who drive Raptors...total shock! Not that the Raptor had some issue but that the LX had none and just walked right on up! Great video, thanks for sharing.

Is the LX even in HI mode? Made it look like a piece of cake.

Sure, perhaps slightly different line. But everything still played into this including good articulation and a-trac.

I was in 4Lo, center diff locked, and AHC high.

Maybe mention to your friend—
-The guy who kept spinning his wheels (XTerra?) while lurching forward and back hoping a spin would grab? -I see a major break in his future... Spinning a front wheel hoping it will suddenly grip and grab during a wheel spin is a great way to break stuff. :meh:

The little girl’s commentary was super cute, btw. :)

No joke. The X was lucky to not break something. Whoever was shooting the vid could've done them a favor and coached them into a better line and a bit of momentum!

Good thing the Raptor had the LED light bar on. Looked to be getting dark out...
