No, the G-O wire goes to the brake switch. Then a G-W wire leaves that switch are runs rearward to the brake lights.
Thanks for all the help. After countless hours, applying your knowledge, reading the electrical book (a must), learning to use a ohm meter and many conversations with ChatGtp, the lights are working. It appears to have been a combination of the trailer harness and a ground at the green illumination wire to the non oem stereo. I had followed someone's wiring diagram for the non-oem stereo and I had put another wire with the green illumination wire. We may not have had tail lights for almost 2 years when this was installed. The lights came on and worked when I ungrounded that wire to the stereo but then when I hooked everything back up the fuse blew again. I unplugged the trailer harness behind the left taillight and now all is working again. All the help and learning is greatly appreciated. A few wasted hours chasing the wrong things but in the end, it still helped to eliminate what was not the issue. Now to get it all back together.
