yep, weep hole(I would not lie to ya

Look up(flashlight) from the bottom at the water pump, you will see a hole in the bottom, maybe 1/4" if you see water or green or red(depending on the flavor of your anti freeze) coming out or if its or crusted around it........thats the weep hole.........weeping. Its there to let you know the seal inside is going.........like i said out 90 has been weeping for over a month, maybe lost a teaspoon this whole time........but someday it will piss all over the place.....and thats not a good thing.
Belts, better too loose than too tight, to loose....they will squel(so tighten a bit) too tight and it can take out the bearings in the alt ect. I like to adjust my belts so I can turn them over 180 degs at the longest point. The FSM has the actaull specs, by using a tension guage or by how far you can push them down with your finger.
I run red toyota in all my Cruisers, even the ones that had green in them at some point.

Hi all,
Three questions...
1. "weep hole" on the water pump? Is this true? Is it on the underside? I have a slow coolant leak, usually after sitting overnight, but I'm having a hard time tracing it. (On my 87 fj60).
2. When replacing belts, how do you know if you've got the tension right?
3. My 80 has Toyota Red in the coolling system. I'm having it flushed soon, and will replace it with the same. My 60 has green in it. Other than the little leak, the cooling system is really good, always runs about 1/3 up the guage. It needs to be flushed too. Should I go w/Toy Red after the flush on my 60, or stick to Green?
Summer's coming up, and I want to be prepared.
Thanks!
