Hello all!
I am back looking at Land Cruisers again. I found a nice one in SC, but after getting some pics of the undercarriage, I am
wondering if this is too much use/abuse? Or whether I should not be concerned?
Thanks in advance!
Mark

doesn't look like too many hard hits. My Wife's VW looks about like that on the underside.

I see mostly muddy splash marks, not sure I see any actual contact anywhere? Not everybody details their undercarriage to sell a car :hillbilly:

My only concern is the first picture. I would want to investigate that transfer case black cover. If it has a hit, I would like it removed and the case inspected.

Yeah, that transfer case cover sure looks like it took a decent hit...I assume it should be lined up correctly, and not all bent to the side, right?
I am not too concerned about the rust and wear and tear, but I would sure hate to have a problem with the transfer case.

Test out the transfer case, 4H to 4L a few times. It's probably fine, ^^ OEM cover took a hit. No concerns with anything else. If you buy, replace that cover with aftermarket skid. A few good choices available. All good.

The stock transfer case skid bends to the left like that. Normal.

Geez, I did not know that it bends to the side like that....I feel silly now. And I just asked the dealer to take a look at the transfer case because of it. lol. Oh well, thanks for educating me on that!

I was not talking about the lean. The first pic shows the signs of a possible hit on that skid. That skid is bolted directly to the transfer case not to the frame as the other skids. This is why you have been wise to ask the dealer to take a look. You should never feel silly when doing due diligence before making such a large purchase.

Mine looks a lot like that, minus the white mud coating, and it hasn’t been hit by anything that I know of.
