I just wanted to post up...
I needed a new truck, the Ford was getting tired to say the least.
Long story short, I bought an 06 tacoma, extended cab with 13K, V6 4WD (of course) and not a scratch on it. Not really looking forward to the payments, but...
Im pretty excited about it I think!
Im actaully feeling kind of sick to my stomach right now...Im not good with big purchases. Truthfully, Im a cheap bastard, but this will be the NICEST and lowest mileage vehicle I have ever bought.

This whole thing transpired SOOOOO fast....
I got a call from a friend at the Toyota dealership who said that I needed to get down there and take a look at it...(he knew I was LOOKING). So I went down, drove it next thing I knew papers were FLYING and numbers were flashing in front of my face!

It happened REALLLLLLLY FAWKING FAST!

Illl post pics later after I digest what I just did!

Congrats.

Those are nice trucks. Can't wait to see the pictures. Is it a TRD?

Jack

Nope, not a TRD.
Apparently they have a LSD in the rear end though. Not planning to wheel this...AT ALL...so the TRD wasnt something I was too concerned with. Just needed something that I wasnt worried about driving.

Rusty, Ill swing by!
Maybe not Friday, but over the weekend maybe?

Gotta get back to surgery....

Thanks guyz.

Congrats Keith! I need to get a DD but just, as you said, can't get myself back over to monthly payments since I turned in the Volvo last June. But the quickly mounting miles being put on the 100 as my DD are bothersome.

Another 3 1/2 years and my FJ is actually mine. Know how you feel about those payments. Felt the same way after I got the Blue Goose as my dad calls it. But after all the fun wheeling with y'all, peace of mind with a solid rig, I got over my buyer's remorse pretty quickly. After all, it's only money.

OOOO! I didnt realize that your play rig was also you DD.
You drove right by me a couple of weeks ago, and I chuckled as you drove by.
I always get happy when I see nicely built cruisers, then I realized it was you in that nicely built cruiser...

They dropped the taco off and picked up my Ford while I was at work, so I got to drive it home this eve..
Very NICE lil truck. Its amazing what a handeling difference it is as compared to the Ford and the Blotch rig. Im getting a bit more excited about it...it will just take a bit to get used to the payments, but with the warrenty and the low miles...Im not gonna have to worrie about much for a LOOOOONG time as far as dependability is concerned. The Ford truck was just getting scary to drive...
I just didnt trust it anymore! There was a whine from the tranny that didnt sound healthy at all amongst other little issues that were cropping up.
Its was time.

Thanks for the encouragement...Im just gonna have to take some more call at work.

Que sera!:steer:

Blue Goose! I like that!
What is actually making this more difficult is my dad had told me to take it down to the tranny shop and get the ford fixed...Hes always been the voice in my head, and when I go against it...I feel like SH*T!
I was feeling NAUSIATED during, and LONG after this transaction...
Oh well. Im not the only one in the world making a car payment, obviously.
I guess all there is to do is enjoy the ride!

So now we have THREE toyotas in the family...
06 Tacoma
06 4 runner
88 Landcruiser

I managed to get a free toyota t shirt out of the deal too!

Good deal Keith. They are nice trucks, D and I thought seriously about one and drove them, but decided against it.

Everyone hates car payments, but sometimes you gotta do it. Best you can hope for is to get it payed off asap, sucks when you gotta pay the man, sucks less when you pay it off sooner.

Congrats Keith!

I've actually never had the pleasure of owning a car with that "new car smell"....however, I do drive new rental every week!!! In fact, none of my cars are built in the same decade as being driven....:crybaby:

Enjoy!

Now that all the damage has been done, and the dust has settled, I finally got around to taking some pics of the new DD.
Nothing special. Looks like everyother one out there, but its a nice little truck that will hopefully last me for a LOOOOOONG TIME!

One of the interior and the doors open with the access cab...pretty excited about that. That will be nice having 4 doors.
Still getting used to being in it and driving it. It handles so much different than the Ford, and feels more like a car than a truck.

So, hopefully by the time Im ready for a new DD, I can gut the IFS and there will be a SAS kit available for this!:hhmm::D

Always thinking!

Is the bed made of composite on that one? I assume so.

Yes, I believe so!
There are even lil trap doors in the bed to stash stuff in.
the tailgate is SOOOOO light. I slammed it today anticipating it to be as heavy as my ford TG.

You just might have more plastic on that Taco than I have on my FJC! Nice clamshell doors too.

The doors are a nice feature for access.
As far as plastic...I think most new cars are 90% plastic anymore!
