Yup - Sat Jan 17th. UC traditionally does a weekend trip to Tellico but Tellico is under winter closure currently. Gulches has campsites if you wish to camp.
Or a good way for us to practice recovery...kidding of course.

Another thing, seeings how the weather will be in the low 20's those nights, me thinks I'll be in a hotel... Can't freeze the shunt! Is anyone else staying at a hotel? Close to a pub-like place? I'm rolling in with at least one other person/80 series late Friday night and maybe more... so just trying to find a hotel along the lines of a Motel6 (cheap but respectable). Where's the closest big town?

Laurens is the closest town with some motels, only about 5-10 minutes from Gulches, and they have motel6 style motels. Although, I'm pretty sure Laurens' night life is lacking. If you drive back up into Greenville, there's anything you could ask for, motel wise. Not to mention some really great bars.

I'll call Skip tomorrow and find out the details on pricing with the number of trucks we have coming now. I will update the first post, as well.
Keep an eye on Gulches forums, as they do a good job of updating the conditions of the trails. Gulches can get really sloppy with all of the rain, so be warned. We'll start arranging caravans down later this week.

For all you die-hard MLK Runners, If you don't know Nick above, think back to '06 and having to pull the dually out of the ditch on Trail 1, when there were 3 winches hooked to him. Nick owned the huge Flat Black FJ60. He used his winch to assist in getting that guy unstuck. We were dumb enough to camp in that snowy weather at stateline.
I believe Nick's old FJ60 was spotted the next year MLK, but by then Ben Garcia owned it, so Nick and his vehicles have a MLK history.

Hey Carp, you got me as "+1" but I was joking about picking up Dan in Atl, unless of course everyone pulls together and chants for his presence... then maybe he'll cave in.

I'm out too. We're taking our 10mo son to visit Orlando (where my wife is from) for the first time. Needless to say, we'll be very busy introducing him to many family members who haven't had the chance to meet him yet.

Update from Skip: Trails are looking great, and should be a good weekend for wheeling, as long as you keep the heat on and don't have to get out too long.
We got more information about the pricing too. Looking at the posts we have here, we've got 10 members coming, not to mention the j**ps coming. If this holds, we'll get $15 passes, and passengers ride for free. If we lose a couple, it'll be a $20 pass and passengers ride for free.
So, looks like we'll be a go this Saturday, can't wait.

Additionally, if you're coming from Easley, or Georgia, or Clemson or anywhere south of Greenville, you're welcome to caravan with me. I'll be leaving the Hickory Point gas station off of Exit 32 (I-85) and going across Hwy 8 to Hwy 25 at 9:00AM. Let me know, so I'll know to wait for you.

I think we're gonna stay in ATL Friday night, so meeting you there before 9 is best, You rolling out at 9AM correct, not meeting there at 9AM?
I will meet you at the gas station also and will make sure to be there before 9AM.
That's when it's nice to be able to steal someones truck and trailer for the day.

Yeah, my plan was to roll out at 9:00. Today, my power steering box puked its fluid out while I was at work. Gonna have to check into that, hope I can get it going before Sat, or I might have to bail. Let's hope for some good Cruiser karma so that I don't have to miss this trip...
