The "Run Down":
I think this rig is pretty clean. There is some surface rust on some of the modifications (rack and sliders) from the coatings/finishes rubbing off, but the undercarriage is pretty dang clean. I’ve owned this truck since 2016 and purchased it off another local Mud member. It’s served my family well, but we’re in the season of life that we’re better off in something that gets better gas mileage and is easier to get in and out of. I get compliments on it all of the time even though the hood needs a repaint due to clear coat failure and other dings/scratches, etc. There are a couple of dents that could be removed via PDR, and more sizeable dent caused by my dumb self when I was trying to remove the 270 awning by myself. It’s almost 20 years old, so although it cleans up pretty well, it’s definitely a “10 footer.” All buttons work; however the buttons on the lower part of the center stack need to be pushed multiple times if they haven’t been pressed in a while. I just replaced the lower seat cover on the driver’s side using Wolfman’s Auto’s piece. I also just recently noticed that the roof liner is beginning to bubble/sag on the drivers side, 3rd row area (see photos). The rest of the interior is in pretty good shape. The leather is a little dry and could use some TLC, but no other tears or rips. Some staining in the carpets, but might be able to be removed via steam or hot water extractor. The tires have pretty decent tread, but the fronts are a little chunky/choppy.
I’ve kept up with most maintenance items myself and had some stuff done by local Toyota specialists; however, it’s going to be coming up on a TB/Water Pump/Tensioner replacement somewhat soon. I last had it done @175,000 miles in 2018. The passenger side front inboard axle boot is leaking a little grease, so a CV reboot might be needed. I don’t see any tears or rips in the boot, so I can only guess that the clamp isn’t on as tight as it could be. They were last serviced in 2022. At the same time, I’d probably go ahead and do a full service on the front hub/brakes. Steering rack is also weeping, but I haven’t had to add any fluid, and I check the reservoir every time I have the hood up. Recently, I’ve been getting an intermittent check engine light that indicates one of the 02 sensors might be on its way out (replacement 02 sensor in the extra parts bin).
That’s all that I can think of at the moment. I’m sure I’ll remember more stuff about this truck when I talk to prospective buyers. Car is located in Cypress, TX (suburb of Houston). Please feel free to reach out with any questions about the car at (Seven-onethree) 9-Zero-six-EightySeventy.
