so the big test was applied to the BJ70 rag top with the CT26 slightly massaged turbo. we drove the coquihaulla(sp?) which is a series of very long steep hills, a true test for diesels. we climbed all the hills at at least 60 mph in 4 th gear, egts were maxed at 950 with one section where the temps got to 1000, 13 lbs of boost, temp gauge rock solid on 1/3 and the oil running at 50 psi. all this running 35" boots with 4.11 gears...
the truck pulled beautifuly, handled great, rode extemely nice and other than the need for ear plugs it has been an extemely enjoyable trip.
had supper with Sheldon, Tawnya, Greg and Petra (Greg finally got to drive his Bj74 again), Stoney and Sara. Both Greg and Sheldon drove teh BJ70 and i am hopeing they will give their own veiws on the turbo install, over all vehicle feel and performance.
so far the fuel consumption has been phenomenal but i have to figure the actual milage out. i have driven enough diesels to know really good fuel milage but i want to see for sure. maybe the next eprot i will have time to figure it out.
as for the max boost, there ae quite a few of us that are running 14 lbs pressure with no problems, you have to remember that you ae at the max boost only for breif periods, unless you are running the mountains where you are into the boost for minutes at a time..
rule of thumb, if you can not afford to fix then don't paly with the boost, suggestion, i highly doubt that you will have a problem but you take the risk into consideration and make a decision... (i am not trying to be an ass here)
cheers
